Ahead of its long-awaited launch this summer, Square Enix shared new Final Fantasy 16 gameplay videos featuring a Titan Eikon boss battle and an idle Chocobo. Final Fantasy 16 players will be able to harness the power of various Eikons and traverse several unique locales in a world once blessed by continued light of the crystals.Final Fantasy 16 brings players to Valisthea, a world where the power of the Mothercrystals fuels war across its realms. Aether is beginning to disappear from Valisthea, causing the land to grow lifeless while people fight over the remaining light left from the crystals. People known as Dominants will often fight in these wars due to their ability to summon Eikons such as Shiva, Garuda, and Titan. The protagonist, Clive Rosfield, was expected to inherit Phoenix's power as a Dominant, but the early events of Final Fantasy 16 quickly lead him down a different path. Clive will battle other Dominants and their Eikons, including the mighty Earth-elemental Eikon known as Titan.RELATED: Final Fantasy 16 Director Reveals How the Game Takes Advantage of a DualSense Controller The official Final Fantasy 16 English Twitter account showed off a 12-second gameplay clip of a Titan boss fight, and the Japanese Twitter account shared a clip of a Chocobo and its idle animations. In the first Final Fantasy 16 clip, Clive summons the power of the Ifrit to battle Titan, who is several times larger than Clive's Eikon. Although Ifrit possess great strength and powerful fire magic, Titan's earthy defense will take some time to wear down. During the boss fight, Ifrit is able to perform precision dodges to evade Titan's punches while countering with combos and magic.

Square Enix's second gameplay clip shows off the idle animations of a white Chocobo, which Clive may ride in the world of Valisthea in Final Fantasy 16. This Chocobo clip was originally shown to PAX East 2023 attendees during the Final Fantasy 16 panel this past March. However, this appears to be the first direct feed version of that gameplay clip outside the Final Fantasy 16 panel stream.

The Titan boss fight is a small glimpse of what players can expect in Final Fantasy 16. Eikons have an imposing presence in Final Fantasy 16, and the boss battles appear to accurate represent the tremendous power of Final Fantasy's iconic summons. The white Chocobo remains faithful while having an updated and realistic design to fit the theme of Final Fantasy 16.

Development of Final Fantasy 16 is already complete, and fans can expect a playable demo two weeks before the launch of the full game. For those still undecided on Final Fantasy 16, the demo may be a valuable opportunity to experience an early portion of the highly-anticipated RPG.

Final Fantasy 16 launches June 22 for PlayStation 5.
