New data reveals a surge in the popularity of Final Fantasy 16 after an impressive showing at the latest State of Play. Final Fantasy 16’s launch is just a few months away, and Square Enix has showcased a ton of gameplay in recent weeks in the lead-up to its release.
Sony hosted a special State of Play event solely for Final Fantasy 16 on April 13, giving fans an additional 25 minutes of gameplay footage. It gave users a look at the combat of Final Fantasy 16, along with the skill trees, the map, and a brief introduction to some of the side characters. It now looks like the State of Play event had a significant impact on the popularity of Final Fantasy 16, as it has climbed up the sales rankings on Amazon.
As reported by GamesRadar+, Final Fantasy 16 is currently the best-selling PS5 game on Amazon in the USA. The more expensive deluxe edition of Final Fantasy 16 claims the top spot, with the standard edition in fourth place, ahead of games like Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, NBA 2K23, Resident Evil 4, Dead Space, and other popular titles. While many games in this list are selling at full price, NBA 2K23 is available for $20 on Amazon, which may have impacted its sales rankings. Overall, it looks like the State of Play event had a big impact on the hype around Final Fantasy 16.
Final Fantasy 16 offers a few different editions to choose from, and its physical deluxe version comes with bonus goodies like a Clive Rosfield SteelBook case and a map of Valisthea. The digital version of this edition comes with a mini artbook and a digital mini soundtrack, along with some other bonuses for gamers who pre-order Final Fantasy 16.
Fans should note that this ranking is only based on PS5 games on Amazon USA, and the list may vary depending on the platform and the region. The rankings based on video games in general tell a different story, with the $10 PlayStation Store Gift taking the top spot. The highly anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which also dropped a trailer on April 13, is in second place, with other controllers and gift cards also in the top 20. The deluxe edition of Final Fantasy 16 is at #38 on the list, and it’ll be interesting to see if it moves up the rankings closer to release.
Final Fantasy 16 launches on June 22 for PS5.
