The past few weeks have been incredible for gamers, thanks to titles like Black Myth: Wukong, Star Wars Outlaws, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and Astro Bot. A variety of genres have received some kind of love. But that's not all though — especially for PC players.

PC gamers have another highly anticipated AAA title on the horizon: Final Fantasy 16, releasing on September 17. However, before rushing to pre-order, it’s essential to ensure your hardware can handle it. The developer has revealed the official system requirements, and they’re intriguing, to say the least. The most surprising detail? A massive 170 GB of required storage space, and it must be an SSD.

To run Final Fantasy 16 at 1080p and 60 FPS, the hardware requirements increase significantly. For the CPU, an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X or an Intel Core i7-10700 should be sufficient. On the GPU side, an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 will be necessary. Fortunately, the RAM requirement remains at 16 GB.

  • Your GPU will need to have at least 8 GB VRAM.

The developer has not disclosed system requirements for higher resolutions, such as 1440p or 4K, but you can expect them to be even more demanding. If you’re still skeptical about the listed requirements, you can download the Final Fantasy 16 demo for free via Steam. The demo will give you a good idea of the performance you can expect from the full game.

It’s also unclear whether the above requirements account for upscaling technologies or not. Since the minimum requirements are for 720p, it’s reasonable to hope that the higher specifications do not include upscaling.
