Final Fantasy 14 celebrates its eleventh anniversary with its annual event, The Rising, giving players the chance to earn exclusive time-limited items and achievements. Running for only two weeks from August 27, until September 11, 7:59 AM Pacific Daylight Time, players will want to act fast to make sure they don't miss out on this year's rewards. In addition, players who missed out on the rewards from 2023's Rising event, such as the Reborn Phoenix mount, are now able to purchase them from the online Mogstation store.
Originally launching to poor reviews back on August 27, 2013, the story of Final Fantasy 14's rebirth is one that's familiar to long-time fans of the game, culminating in the closure of the original version 1.0 release, and later, the launch of a revamped version 2.0, A Realm Reborn. The turbulence of the game's early life was reflected in-game as well, with the last moments of version 1.0's service coinciding with an apocalyptic cataclysm. Over a decade later, Final Fantasy 14 has bounced back, continuing to set new records and transforming The Rising from a cause for mourning the past to a celebration of hope for the future.
10 Years Ago, Final Fantasy 14 Found the Answers to the Biggest MMORPG Conundrum in History
The history of Final Fantasy 14 is one of drastic change, and 10 years later, it is still adapting to reach its audience better than ever before.
The Rising 2024 Event Guide
The 2024 iteration of The Rising event starts with the Wandering Minstrel in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.3, Y:13.7) offering the quest "Rising to the Call". Players will then need to find Ayoyo on the bottom floor of the Marauder's Guild, also located in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.4, Y:6.1), followed by the Aetheryte Plaza in the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks (X:9.2, Y:10.9). Ayoyo asks players to speak with four characters all located along the Hawkers' Alley west of the Aetheryte Plaza: Swozblaet (X:8.4, Y:11.5), the Middle-aged Mariner (X:7.4, Y:11.9), S'dhodjbi (X:6.3, Y:12.0), and the Misty-eyed Skygazer (X:7.1, Y:12.6). Once they have all been spoken to, players will need to wait for Ayoyo by the Ferry Docks on the west side of the Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks before reconvening with the Wandering Minstrel back at the Aftcastle where he was first seen.
The second event quest, "We Who Are About to Set Sail Salute You", sends players back to the Marauder's Guild to speak with Commodore Reyner, followed by the Anchor Yard located in the southwest corner of the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks. After a short cutscene, players can speak with Ayoyo one final time to complete the event, rewarding them with the achievement "For Eleven's Sake", worth 10 achievement points to spend with Jonathas in Old Gridania.
The Rising 2024 Event Rewards
Completing The Rising event quests will reward players with the new Brushed-up Krile minion, featuring her as the new Pictomancer job from Dawntrail. Players who have missed out on previous Rising events will also unlock all mini-games from past iterations, available to play from the Toy Chest in any inn room, or the Toy Box housing item. These mini-games include an auto-scrolling platformer, Egg Hunter Riggy, an RPG-styled brick breaker, Kupo Kupo Adventure, a first-person dungeon crawler, Cheap Dungeon, and more.
Event-specific items can also be purchased from the Rising Vendor in the Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (X:11.8, Y:13.6), such as the 2024-exclusive Rising Table Lamp housing item, and a variety of visual effect-creating party items like the Heavenscracker, Magicked Prisms, and Realm Reborn Red champagne. Many of these consumables are timed exclusives, available only while The Rising event is active, so players wanting to make frequent use of them will want to stock up while they're still available.
