One of the most popular features of Final Fantasy XIV has been and continues to be its impressively detailed character customization. On top of the vastly improved glamour system that allows you to dress your character in an endless variety of personalized outfits, a unique item called a Fantasia gives you the power to start from scratch on your character's profile. Whether you want to go from a Miqo'te to a Viera or simply just adjust their physical features, phials of Fantasia will let you change your character endlessly.

With the advent of Dawntrail, Final Fantasy 14's latest expansion, the game is undergoing multiple phases of a massive, engine-level overhaul of its graphics. These special upgrades have subsequently affected the visage of every playable race in the game, meaning that character models no longer look the way they used to in previous expansions. To help compensate for this, FFXIV producer Naoki Yoshida and his team have since begun providing players with optional free phials of Fantasia. The most recent one popped up with Patch 7.1's graphic update, but unlike previous surprise Fantasias, this one won't be around forever.

Where to Find Free Patch 7.1 Fantasia in Final Fantasy 14

A free phial of Fantasia previously became available in Final Fantasy 14 at the start of Dawntrail via the short-and-sweet Bottled Fantasy quest in Ul'dah, and that option remains a permanent fixture in the game. However, another opportunity to get yet another free Fantasia has appeared with Patch 7.1's latest graphic update. This one isn't even locked behind a quest so it doesn't require a lot of effort to obtain, you just need to know where to look for it.

Final Fantasy 14: Where to get Figmental Weapon Coffers

Adorn your character with fan-created weapons from the official Weapon Design Contest.

While in-game, teleport to the main aetheryte in New Gridania. From there, click on the aetheryte itself and select the 'Mih Khetto's Amphitheatre' destination, which will take you to Old Gridania, a sub-section of the region that has plenty of history and lore. Check your map and look for a landmark to the north called 'Apkallu Falls', as seen above. This is also where you can routinely visit the NPC named Jonathas for Achievement Certificate rewards. Make your way there and look for the Wandering Moogle (X:10.7 Y:6.4) floating a few feet left of Jonathas, near the waterfall. It should have a yellow exclamation marker above its head, indicating that it has something to offer you. Speak to the moogle and after some dialogue, it will give you a free phial of Fantasia to use as you please. If you don't intend to use it immediately, be sure to tuck it away somewhere safe such as your Chocobo Saddlebag or with a Retainer, that way you don't accidentally find yourself discarding it one day while clearing out your regular inventory.

This is yet another unique chance to collect a free Fantasia, which normally you have to pay for via the Mog Station store. Be sure to do so soon if you haven't already because this particular Fantasia will become unavailable when Patch 7.2 arrives. These free Fantasia giveaways also may not last forever in general, so if you've been itching to give your character a completely new look, now is the time to use these Fantasias and help your Warrior of Light look their absolute best.
