Final Fantasy 14 gives players a lot to unlock and collect. From appearance items such as unlockable hairstyles to the many mounts players can get, many hours can be spent trying to get everything - or even just certain, rarer items, that might demand more time to be acquired.
Not all of the cool items are difficult to get, though. Some might demand a little time, or investing in certain classes and activities, but that doesn't mean they are hard to unlock. There are minions, for example, that are easily unlockable through quests, such as the Cornservant. Others, like the amazing shark-shaped Major-General, just demand some involvement with the fishing activities available in the game - and here you'll learn exactly what you need to do to unlock Final Fantasy 14's cute shark minion.

How To Unlock FF14 Shark Minion
The Major-General is, as the in-game description says, a shark (with legs) minion that was added to FF14 during the Shadowbringers expansion. To get it, it's necessary to unlock the achievement "No More Fish in the Sea I", which in turn requires players to use the Fisher job and participate in Ocean Fishing.
To unlock the Fisher job, players must go to Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks and speak to N’nmulika (X: 7.9, Y: 14.2). This Disciple of the Land job requires only that the player have another job at level one. Upon picking up the quest "So You Want to Be a Fisher" and answering yes, the quest will be completed and lead to another, called "Way of the Fisher". Completing it will unlock the job, as well as grant you basic equipment in the form of a rod and some bait.
Unlocking Ocean Fishing is just as easy. This activity, exclusive to Fishers, lets a group of 24 players embark on the Endeavor to go fishing on the high seas. All you need to unlock it is to first unlock the Fisher job. After that, the quest "All the Fish in the Sea" can be picked up with Fhilsnoe (X: 7.8, Y: 14.5) at the Fishermen's Guild. Completing it will allow the player to participate in Ocean Fishing.
Unlike many other activities, Ocean Fishing is only available at certain hours. Every two hours (Earth Time) players will have fifteen minutes to register with Dryskthota (X: 3.0 Y: 12.7) in Limsa Lominsa Lower Decks, more specifically at the Ferry Docks, if they wish to participate. Because of that, it's important to keep track of real-world time in order to know when Ocean Fishing will be available.
The ship will depart regardless of whether there are 24 players or not. It can also follow different routes, and certain types of bait are better for some locations and types of fish. Check out the guide on how to get a high score on Ocean Fishing in FF14 for more information about high scores.
While it is necessary to pay attention to the score to get the Major-General minion, it doesn't require anything too hard to get. The achievement players must unlock to receive the minion, "No More Fish in the Sea I", is a reward for getting 5,000 points in a single voyage on the Indigo route - so it's important to make sure that is the selected route when the player goes Ocean Fishing. A few tries should be enough to get enough points, so the only thing that demands time is to wait for the next ship to be available.
