Final Fantasy 14 is an expensive game for players who’ve been on it for years. To get the full experience, they are required to buy three expansions and to pay a monthly subscription to get all features unlocked.
Still, fans can discover a lot before committing to the game and spending money on it. The Free Trial allows them to create several characters across several servers and to access all quests from A Real Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood, which brings them up to level 70. The downsides of the Free Trial involve some locked features, most of them being related to social activities.
Final Fantasy 14: 7 Best Changes Needed In Dawntrail
The Dawntrial expansion will hopefully see more great content added to Final Fantasy 14. Here are some additions we'd love to see.
Full List Of Free Trial Restrictions In Final Fantasy 14
By creating a FF14 account, every player can access the world of Eorzea, even without spending a dime. The developer won’t ask for credit card details, so right after the account is created, players can download the game’s client, the latest updates, and create a character like any other player. The game will automatically consider that the Free Trial has started.
On Playstation 4 or 5, players also have to link their PlayStration Network account to their Square Enix account to proceed. They can directly choose to get the Free Trial through the “...” Button on the game’s PlayStation Store page.
The use of Free Trial doesn’t include any cap of number of days or playtime — it simply limits the features and content players can get access to.
Here is the list of every restriction of the Free Trial in FF14:
- Maximum level capped at 70
- Character creation capped at eight
- PvP is disabled (including Crystalline Conflict)
- Gil (the game's currency) is capped at 300,000
- Players are unable to speak loudly through /yell or /shout
- Unable to send private messages to players (through /tell feature)
- Trading with players is disabled
- The Market Board is disabled
- Letters through the Moogle Delivery Service are disabled
- Retainers are disabled
- Players can’t join or create a Free Company
- Unable to create a party, other than through the Duty Finder (which is FF14’s matchmaking feature, essential to complete mandatory Duties from the main story)
- Companion application, Lodestone’s community content, and official forum are disabled
In addition, Free Trial users cannot access the content from Shadowbringers, Endwalker, or Dawntrail. Most of these restrictions are social-oriented and won’t hinder the player’s progression, although the use of the Market Board and Retainers is useful to get gear easily and manage the Inventory.
Free Trial users have the ability to buy FF14 items on the Mog Station.
