During the Fan Festival in London, Final Fantasy 14 revealed the start date for the Fall Guys collaboration event. If the gameplay footage it shared is any indication, this new Final Fantasy 14 minigame will be one of its most frantic ones yet.
At the first FanFest in Las Vegas, Final Fantasy 14 announced its crossover event with Fall Guys. This was a two-way collaboration, with Final Fantasy 14 cosmetics coming to Fall Guys, and an obstacle course inspired by the party game coming to the Gold Saucer in the critically-acclaimed MMORPG.
Now, Final Fantasy 14 has revealed when the event is coming to the game. Starting October 31, alongside Patch 6.51, players will be able to participate in a special Fall Guys Gold Saucer event. Players will race through obstacle courses inspired by Fall Guys, but with a Final Fantasy 14 twist. The gameplay clip showed a hectic marriage between FF14 mechanics and characters alongside recognizable traps, tricks, and environments from Fall Guys. What’s more, players can earn special Fall Guys cosmetics, including minions and glamours, by participating.
Though the exact details of how the event works will become apparent once the collaboration is live, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida shared the basics during the convention. The minigame will match up to 24 players against one another, after which they must survive a chaotic course that makes Gold Saucer attractions like The Slice is Right and Leap of Faith seem simple. The Fall Guys event will not always be available in the Gold Saucer, but Final Fantasy 14 plans to bring it back on a regular cycle.
Unfortunately, the Final Fantasy 14 event within Fall Guys has already come to an end. From August 22 through October 3, players could collect eight Final Fantasy 14 costumes for their bean-like Fall Guys avatars, as well as several emotes, nameplates, nicknames, and other cosmetics. It is currently unclear if the event will return to Fall Guys in the future.
It is a big time for collaborations in Final Fantasy 14. During FanFest, it confirmed the long-awaited Final Fantasy 16 collaboration would be coming sometime before Dawntrail next summer. Additionally, Final Fantasy 11 is coming to Final Fantasy 14 in a big way, as the new 24-man Alliance raid in Dawntrail, Echoes of Vana’diel, will be a massive callback to the classic MMO. With Final Fantasy 14 also coming to Xbox, Eorzea might be seeing an influx of new players from these varied audiences soon.
Final Fantasy 14 is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5, with an Xbox Series X/S version launching in Spring 2024.
