The Fan Festivals for Dawntrail just wrapped up in Japan recently, revealing the new Pictomancer job for Final Fantasy 14, playable female Hrothgar, and tons of information about the upcoming expansion pack. Final Fantasy 14 also revealed footage of several new zones and dungeons players can explore once Dawntrail launches this summer.
Final Fantasy 14 Reveals Long-Awaited 'Final Race' Option
During the Tokyo Fan Fest Keynote address, Final Fantasy 14 reveals the final race that will be added to the game in the Dawntrail expansion.
However, one of these new areas in particular was something no one expected. Final Fantasy 14 revealed the second half of the continent of Tural, including a mysterious city called Solution Nine. This shocking high-tech city features towering skyscrapers, brightly-colored holographic billboards, and other sci-fi elements that look reminiscent of Night City, the setting for Cyberpunk 2077.
Solution Nine, Final Fantasy 14’s Cyberpunk Hub City

Very little is known about Solution Nine right now, but players are already speculating based on what they have so far. Solution Nine is also the name of one of Zidane’s Limit Break-like Dyne abilities in Final Fantasy 9, and one of the big reveals of the game is that the protagonist is from Terra, an alternate world featuring technological developments similar to those found in Final Fantasy 14’s recent reveals. Fans had originally suspected Jenova might make an appearance in the next Final Fantasy 14 expansion, but it now seems like Dawntrail may be drawing from Final Fantasy 9 instead.
Dawntrail has been marketed as “the ultimate summer vacation” to players since the expansion was first announced. However, each new reveal has shown more and more details that suggest there are some huge mysteries lying beneath the surface, waiting for players to uncover them. The developers haven’t given a solid release date yet for fear of a delay, but it has committed to a summer launch, so Final Fantasy 14 players have a big year ahead of them in 2024.
