Final Fantasy 14 producer and director Naoki Yoshida stated during the 82nd Letter from the Producer Live stream that players should clear up some storage space ahead of the release of the Dawntrail expansion. According to Yoshi-P, the storage space Final Fantasy 14 players need to play the game's fifth expansion will depend on their chosen platform.
With two weeks to go until Dawntrail launches in early access, Square Enix has taken steps to inform players of the changes coming to Final Fantasy 14 along with the expansion. Between the game's first major graphical update, the new Viper and Pictomancer Jobs, and the mysterious continent of Tural to explore, Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is loaded with new content for players to enjoy. Ahead of the expansion's release, Square Enix published some tips to prepare players for their trip to the New World. Some recommendations included cleaning out inventories, stocking up on in-game currency, and taking time to run the updated Dawntrail PC benchmark.
Final Fantasy 14 Launches 10th Anniversary Edition

Although Final Fantasy 14 will go into a 48-hour maintenance window starting Wednesday, June 26, Yoshida explained why players may want to download the Dawntrail expansion ahead of its early access period. Over four hours into the Live Letter broadcast, the game's producer said that Final Fantasy 14 Patch 7.0 will require about 55GB of storage space on Windows PCs. After factoring in the base game and past expansions, the total storage space needed will be closer to 90GB. At the time of writing, Final Fantasy 14 requires at least 75GB of storage space on Windows 10 and 11. PS4 and PS5 players will not need as much storage, as the combined space after Dawntrail will be 75 GB to 80 GB.

Between the new 8-player raid content and the Job changes coming with Patch 7.0, Final Fantasy 14 is undertaking one of its most ambitious patch releases to date. How many players will take the time to download Dawntrail ahead of time remains to be seen.
