While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the directors of Final Destination: Bloodlines told the publication that the movie set a record that required a 71-year-old stunt performer, Yvette Ferguson, to be pulled from retirement. She plays a woman in the film's large-scale Sky Tower fire sequence, where she is set on fire, performing a dangerous full-body burn. According to the directors, "That was the oldest person ever on fire, on camera."

Still, the scene marks just how far they are willing to go in rejuvenating the franchise, which is set to have one of the largest set pieces ever featured, with the Sky Tower fire that will be the movie's premonition. The last film, Final Destination 5, featured one of the franchise's largest accidents with an impressive bridge collapse. Final Destination: Bloodlines is promising something that looks on par, or even bigger.

However, the film breaks the core setup of the series, jumping far into the future rather than sticking with the people featured in the initial vision. How this shakes up the dynamics of the franchise's running concept remains to be seen, but it's clear that fans of the series are in for something different from prior outings.
