In addition to completing Hemlock's Request for a Caterpillar request on the town request board, there are also a few different uses for caterpillars, one of many bugs that you can find and catch in Fields in Mistria.
Caterpillar Location In Fields Of Mistria
Caterpillars are described as a common bug in Fields of Mistria found only during the Spring season. Although it is sometimes possible to find caterpillars crawling around in the grass as a random chance encounter, sometimes they can take time to appear in this way. Often, a more reliable way of finding caterpillars in Fields in Mistria is by shaking trees. One of the best places to find caterpillars in Fields of Mistria is by shaking trees that grow on The Eastern Road, as marked on the map below as an example.
Caterpillars in Fields of Mistria appear to spawn randomly, so you may need to shake a few trees before one pops out. Try shaking trees in areas of the map beyond your farm, which tend to drop acorns and pinecones.

Once you've caught a caterpillar in Fields of Mistria, return to Hemlock at the Inn to find him usually serving behind the bar. Speak to him to turn in the Request for a Caterpillar quest. He gives you a Rice Ball as a reward, which makes a handy snack for you on the road. Completing quests like Request for a Caterpillar also helps you increase the town rank in Fields of Mistria and overall Renowm with quests completed adding to your overall score at the end of each day.
Rice Ball is a 2-star meal in Fields of Mistria that restores +64 health and +64 stamina. You could also sell it for 240 Tesserae.
