Fields of Mistria: How to Use the Chicken Statue

Raising animals in Fields of Mistria is a great way to earn Tesserae. You won't be able to adopt animals right off the bat, however. You'll need to repair the mill and complete Hayden's follow-up sidequest. Well-fed animals accrue produce as they grow older and have higher affection. In order to get golden produce such as Golden Milk, you may want to take advantage of Mistria's Chicken Statue. Unlike regular shops in Mistria, the Chicken Statue only takes a special type of currency called Shiny Beads.

How to Get Shiny Beads

Ranching Skill Perks

To obtain Shiny Beads, you'll need to unlock the Currency of Care (Ranching, lvl 1). Like with all perks, you can unlock this skill by speaking to Caldarus. The Currency of Care costs 25 Essence. When you reach Ranching lvl 15, you'll unlock the second tier of the Ranching Perks. It's recommended you buy the Currency of Care II (50 Essence). With Currency of Care II, animals that are pet and fed will sometimes drop additional Shiny Beads the following day. Finally, at Ranching lvl 30, there's Currency of Care III (III). If you have too many cooked dishes, Currency of Care III allows you to feed them to your ranching animals. The amount of Shiny Beads dropped is based on the star-rating of the meal.

The only surefire way to obtain Shiny Beads is to make sure your animals are fed. With Currency of Care, they'll drop beads as long as they eat via hand or grazing.

Where to Find the Chicken Statue

And How Does It Work?

If you look southwest of Hayden's house (Sweetwater Farm), you'll see a small garden with a statue of a chicken. Interacting with the statue when you don't have any Shiny Beads on hand won't trigger anything. However, if you have the currency, you'll be prompted to throw in an offering. You can offer 10 Beads or 100 Beads. Offering 100 can give you a stack of golden products or deluxe feed, whereas an offering of 10 will drop one.

What Can You Get from the Chicken Statue?

How to Get Golden Milk & Golden Eggs

The items obtained from the Chicken Statue are determined by the offering and the season. The Chicken Statue can drop any of the following:

Small and Large Animal Feed (Deluxe or Quality)
Produce (i.e, eggs, milk)
Meals (i.e, Pudding)
Recipes
Golden Products (i.e, golden eggs, golden milk)

If you want Animal Feed for your coops and barns, then offer 10 Beads. Large Quality/Deluxe Animal Feed is dropped in bundles of x10 whereas Small Quality/Deluxe Animal Feed is dropped in x5. Obtaining Animal Feed from the Chicken Statue is recommended since you can only obtain feed from the Mill. Making Feed at the Mill takes up in-game time and will consume several crafting items (i.e, hay, sod, water chestnuts).

If you're looking to get a dozen Golden Milk/Eggs, you'll want to offer 100 Beads. Golden products sells more than their regular counterparts. You won't be able to obtain golden products from your animals until they have high affection (8+ hearts). The drop rate of Golden Milk or Golden Eggs is rare, and when they start leaving some, you'll only obtain one or two. Thus, if you want golden products by the handful, you'll want to use the Chicken Statue.

The Chicken Statue is great for those that are still new in their playthrough. Golden products can be used to craft Golden Cheese, Golden Butter, and Golden Mayonnaise. These items can be used to craft higher-level meals. If you make Golden Cheese/Butter/Mayonnaise at the Mill, it will take 20 minutes of your time. You can also sell Golden Milk/Eggs straight up, but it's recommended you use them at the Mill.
