There's never a shortage of things to do on the daily in Fields of Mistria, and one of its more special features is the ability to romance a character of your choosing. Thanks to the game's Third Big Update (v0.14.0), you have the chance to go on charming little dates with your romantic partner in a variety of locations around Mistria.

Dating in Fields of Mistria does involve certain steps to unlock it and then make the most of its benefits. If you're not sure how to get started, here's how it works.

How to Unlock Dating in Fields of Mistria

Dating is a new romance-related mechanic added as part of Fields of Mistria's "Third Big Update" (v0.14.0), and unlocking it is actually very straightforward.

You first need to build a romance with one of Mistria's available bachelors/bachelorettes (any character listed as "single" in your journal). This is done by talking to your preferred character as often as possible and giving them gifts consisting of things they personally like.

You can and should do this daily, as the more you do, the more their heart gauge will increase. You can check your relationship progress with any bachelor/bachelorette in your journal via the heart icon tab. Every two hearts you gain with a character will trigger a "Heart Event", which is a special quest meant to further strengthen your bond with that character.

Eventually, once you reach 8 Hearts with your chosen character, you'll get the chance to officially start a romance with them during that respective Heart Quest by selecting a specific dialogue choice. The dialogue box you want to pick will be colored red with a Heart icon next to it. Once that Heart Event is completed, return home and rest to move to the next day, and you'll then get an unexpected visitor at your door.

Mistria's resident socialite, Elsie, will congratulate you on the start of your romance with your chosen character and that you two have "started dating". She then offers to provide you with some tips about how Dating works, which you should definitely take note of.

First off, you can only go on Dates with your romanced character during the weekends, specifically Saturday and Sunday, so make sure to set aside one of those days each week. You can only go on one date per week per person. This applies if you're dating more than one person as well. In other words, you can go on a date with one person on Saturday and then go on a date with another person on Sunday.

Next, to actually go on a Date, you first need to find Date Inspiration Items around Mistria, and use them to unlock new Date Types, which are different kinds of dates you can embark on around town, such as a picnic or dinner at the Inn. Elsie will then provide you with two Date Inspiration Items to get you started.

If you choose to look at the Dates tutorial after Elsie leaves, it further indicates that you can find more Date Inspiration Items via foraging methods (e.g. - fishing) or by purchasing them from Wheedle the Saturday Market Vendor you unlock after completing the Saturday Market upgrade as part of the Town Repair questline.

How to Go On a Date in Fields of Mistria

Once you have a Date Inspiration Item in your inventory, 'use' it to unlock a new Date Type. When either Saturday or Sunday arrives, you should see a 'Date Available' prompt at the bottom of the calendar transition screen, along with the icon of the partner who's available for a date.

Go and visit your romantic partner and select 'Invite On Date' when you approach them. The 'Select a Date' window will then pop up, allowing you to select the type of date you want to go on from the ones you've unlocked. Pick one, and your partner will happily agree to your choice.

A cutscene of your date with them will then play out, and at the end of it, you'll receive a Date Photo along with another random reward item (e.g. - meals). You can hang up any Date Photos you receive in your house to commemorate the occasion. Depending on when you go on your date, such as first thing in the morning, you'll still have the rest of the day to do other tasks if you wish.

Make sure to go exploring for more Date Inspiration Items, and 'use' any duplicates you get, as they cannot be sold. Wheedle sells a Bathhouse Date item for 100,000g, so you'll need to save up for that one in particular.
