If you're trying to complete Valen's Request for Seaweed side quest, you might struggle to find the location of seaweed across Fields of Mistria's various map areas. Fortunately, seaweed is a common plant that you can find all year round, and it's not too tricky of a plant to locate once you know where to look.
Where To Find Seaweed In Fields Of Mistria
To find seaweed in Fields of Mistria, you need to search inside circular, bubbling dive spots in and around the ocean by the beach. Dive spots appear to spawn randomly, but you can find more by swimming further out to sea.
Many beginner Fields of Mistria players might not realize that they can dive in and swim in all types of water sources in the game, including ponds and rivers as well as the ocean. You might be surprised by just how far you can swim in Fields of Mistria's ocean.
How To Dive And Swim In Fields Of Mistria
To dive in Fields of Mistria, jump into the water using the space bar and swim towards any available dive spot by moving your character up, down, left, or right in the usual way, as pictured above. Press the 'E' button to interact with the dive spot to dive underwater, triggering a short animation of your character diving and resurfacing with a discovered item, such as seaweed or a clam.
Fields of Mistria: How to Get Sugar Cane

If you're lucky, it may be possible to find seaweed when diving in or close to the ocean for the first time. However, you may need to search different dive spots before you get seaweed as a random spawn. You can swim anywhere in the water, except the darkest blue areas that mark the edge of the map, so try searching all around the islands to find and check more dive spots.
While diving in Fields of Mistria, it's also possible to find other resources like clams, oysters, and even rare treasure chests.
What To Do With Seaweed In Fields of Mistria
Once you've found two pieces of Seaweed in Fields of Mistria, you can return them to Valen to complete his Request for Seaweed quest and collect the Seaweed Salad recipe as a reward. While you can sell seaweed for 15 Tesserae each, you can also use seaweed in several other Fields of Mistria's cooking recipes, with some examples listed below:

- Spicy Crab Sushi
- Sushi Platter
