Fishing in Fields of Mistria is fairly easy, but if you're planning on completing the Fish Wing in the Museum, you'll need to fish in pretty much every area. The fish that appear will be influenced by the type of water you're fishing in, the fish's shadow, and the weather. You should be able to get every seasonal fish in Mistria, but if you're going for the Legendary Fish, you'll want to work on leveling up your Fishing Skill. There are a total of four Legendary Fish, one for each season.

How to Level Up Fishing Quickly
Fishing Tips in Fields of Mistria
You won't be able to catch Legendary Fish until you've reached Level 30 in Fishing Skill and purchased the Legendary Perk for 80 Essence. Once you have this, you'll sometimes receive a notification of a nearby Legendary Fish at the start of a new day. It'll appear right below the calendar date and any potential birthdays. As mentioned, there's only one Legendary Fish per season, so you'll only get a notification for one type of fish instead of all four at once.
The best way to level up Fishing is to fish and dive. It may be difficult to determine how much experience you receive from fishing, but if you're making it a habit to fish every day, your Fishing Skill will climb. It may also help if you obtain Perks in Tier 1 and Tier 2. Here are some you'll want to consider:
- Weedline Watcher (Tier 1): Fishing up Junk will become less likely. Costs 15 Essence.
- Appealing Reeling (Tier 1): Fish are attracted to your Bobber from a greater range. Costs 10 Essence.
- Perfect Catch (Tier 2): Uncommon and rare fish become more common. Costs 40 Essence.
You can catch Legendary Fish with a "weaker" fishing rod, but it's highly recommended you buy (or forge) the Silver Fishing Rod. This will allow you to cast your line farther than you can with the Worn/Copper/Iron Fishing Rod.

The Eastern Road (ponds) |
The Cherry Fish appears in Spring on Windy days. You can check the weather with the crystal ball furniture-item. If there's an image of a cherry blossom inside, then that means the next day will be Windy with Cherry Blossoms. You can only catch the Cherry Fish in ponds, so make way for the southern half of The Eastern Road. There's a large pond you can fish in over the bridge, or you can fish in the pond in the bottom-right corner. Remember that you'll want to be on the lookout for small shadows. If you don't see any, leave the area and return to "refresh" the fish.

The Lightning Fish will only spawn in the Summer when there is a Storm. You'll find the medium-sized fish in rivers, but the best river to search is the one under the bridge in The Narrows, the one south of the museum and Errol's house.

You can find Leaf Fish in the river on the Eastern Road in the Fall during Windy weather. There's only one river on The Eastern Road, and it's right at the bridge you repaired for one of Mistria's story quests. Much like Cherry Fish, Leaf Fish appears as a small shadow in the water.

The Beach |
Snow Fish, as its name indicates, is the Winter Legendary Fish, and it can be found in the ocean at The Beach when it's Snowing. You can cast your line in any body of water on The Beach, but you'll want to be on the lookout for medium-sized shadows. To cut back on running from one end of the beach to the other, pick one spot along the shore and fish there. You can "refresh" the ocean fish by entering/exiting the Tackle Shop or The Beach.
Where to Use Legendary Fish
Can You Sell Them?
You can't sell Legendary Fish or place them in fish tanks in your cabin. The only way to use Legendary Fish is to donate them to the Museum. Once you've donated all four Legendary Fish, you'll receive one of the Fish Wing's set completion reward. Depending on how many sets you have completed before turning in the Legendary Fish, the contents will vary. You'll essentially receive a new piece of furniture and the recipe to craft it, as well as a treasure box. The more Fish Wing sets completed, the higher the quality of the treasure box.
