The human drama at the core of Final Fantasy 16 is what drives the majority of the story, even if the spectacle is often left to the likes of Eikons and their Dominants. The game goes to great pains to show what happens to normal people when conflict goes beyond the sheer number of lives lost, and this is something that protagonist Clive Rosfield often struggles with during the adventure.

But that doesn't mean everyone is worthy of being saved, especially if they have been engaged in less-than-savory activities. The hunt for the savage trio known as The Mageth Brothers falls into this category in Final Fantasy 16, and players should do whatever they can to eliminate these individuals for the good of the land.

Unlocked during the main quest, Fire in the Sky, players can head to the Hunt Board to find out just where The Mageth Brothers are hiding. The game will point to the Quietsands region in Rosaria, and players can easily find these foes by heading north from the Port Isolde Obelisk.

The key difference in this particular hunt is that Clive and the gang will not be beating down just one opponent. As their name suggests, this will be a fight against three warriors wielding giant axes, and things can get messy fast. Prepare adequately by studying up on these enemies:

  • The opponents possess only melee attacks, so that is one less worry for players. However, if they all attack at once, that will be a problem. As much as possible, isolate one of The Mageth Brothers as a target, and get some space to work with.
  • When the Last Crusade move is being used, all three enemies will rush toward Clive's position. This will be in a straight line, so depending on the current location of Clive, get some distance before dodging to the side each time.

  • Once all but one of The Mageth Brothers have fallen, watch out for the Iron Gavel move, which sees a series of axe slams coming Clive's way. Anticipate the delayed timing, and dodge out of the way.

With three enemies to keep track of, it makes sense to rely on AoE attacks as much as possible to maximize the damage done. Eikonic Abilities like Ramuh's Lightning Rod and Pile Drive, or the Phoenix's Flames of Rebirth, will do wonders here,

Winning the fight against The Mageth Brothers will see players leave with 5100 XP, 90 Ability Points, 13000 Gil, 30 Renown, as well as two pieces of Meteorite that can be used for crafting.

Final Fantasy 16 is exclusively available for PlayStation 5.
