To order to start the Wordle puzzle for today, player need to head to the right place. While it was made by an indie developer, the original version of Wordle was purchase by the New York Times Games. This version is the subject of this article; if players head to a different version that isn't on the New York Times Games website or the NYT Crossword app, the answers, hints, and rules here might not be the same.

The first things players will need to do is to choose a beginning word. This word:

Must be five letters.
Must be a real word.
Cannot be a proper noun.
Cannot be one of the many words censored by the New York Times when it purchased Wordle.
Should not be a previous Wordle answer.
Should not be a plural noun ending in S.

Type a word that fits all the rules above into the Wordle grid. Press enter. Its letters will then begin to change colors, and each color means something different that will help players solve the mystery word.

If a letter becomes green, it is right and in the right place.
If a letter turns yellow, it is right but in the wrong place in the word.
Gray letters are incorrect.

Taking into account the clues from the first word, type a new one into the Wordle grid. Its letters will also change colors. Keep trying new words and getting new clues like this until the answer is guessed or players run out of their six tries. Puzzles reset at midnight daily.
