Wordle is back today with yet another five-letter mystery word for fans. Today's word is one of the more challenging words that the New York Times has come up with for players to guess, and some players might want a little help or just the whole spoiler.
How To Play Wordle
Wordle may be a simple game with simple rules, but it can be very difficult to master. In order to play and succeed, players will not only need to learn the rules, but also will need a little bit of strategy as well. Here's a little help for anyone new to the game that's looking to get started on the right foot.
The first thing players will need to do is to make sure they are in the correct place. The original, and the subject of this article, is the New York Times Games version of Wordle. This one was so massively popular that clones and copycats sprung up all over the internet. To make sure players are in the right place, they will need to either head to the NYT Games website or the NYT Crossword app.
Next, players will need to choose a starting word. The best starting words follow some basic rules, so players will want to make sure to remember these:
- Wordle guesses must be five letters long and real words.
- They can contain duplicated letters.
- The best starting words have five different common letters in them.
- Wordle answers cannot be plural nouns ending in S or previous Wordle answers, but these can be used as guesses. They are best avoided, however.
- Words cannot be slurs, gross words, or any of the other words censored from Wordle by the New York Times.
- The best starting word is usually listed as either LATER or IRATE.
Once a great starting Wordle word has been chosen, type it into the site and press enter. This will cause its letters to change colors.
- Green letters are right.
- Gray letters are wrong.
- Yellow letters are right but in the wrong place in the word.
Keep trying new words and getting new clues. Players have six total tries, and new puzzles come around at midnight local time.
