The development team behind the upcoming FBC: Firebreak has shown some interest in bringing the game to the hotly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 console at some point in the future, though the developer is squarely focused on bringing the game to existing platforms for now. Set in the same universe as Alan Wake and Control, FBC: Firebreak represents a departure from previous Remedy projects, being its first ever multiplayer co-op title.
Set inside the Oldest House, FBC: Firebreak will pick up more or less where Control left off, with players filling the shoes of emergency response units tasked with clearing out the remnants of the extradimensional Hiss threat. Players will work together to safeguard the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Control, and will even be able to wield some of the dangerous paranatural objects that the agency is tasked with containing.
FBC: Firebreak Hints at Jesse Faden's Role in the Game
Though fans still haven't seen too much of the upcoming FBC: Firebreak, the game's website features a neat detail hidden away beneath black ink.
The game is set to release on most platforms on June 17, but it's possible that the title could one day see support on the Switch 2 as well. During a recent interview with Gamertag Radio host Danny Pena, Mike Kayatta, Game Director of FBC: Firebreak, commented that he'd "love to" put the game on the Nintendo Switch 2 at some point down the line, but reiterated that the team is currently focused on making sure the title sees a smooth release on existing consoles. With both Alan Wake Remastered and Control currently available on the Switch, the Nintendo console isn't totally unfamiliar territory for Remedy, and Kayatta stated that fans shouldn't rule out the possibility of FBC: Firebreak coming to the console's successor someday.
FBC: Firebreak Fans Will Be Able To Play Together Regardless of Platform
FBC: Firebreak is currently planned for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S consoles on June 15, and unlike in the case of Alan Wake 2, the game will be available to PC players on both Steam and Epic Games Store. FBC: Firebreak will also support crossplay as well as cross-platform matchmaking, meaning that players can jump in and play levels together regardless of their platform of choice.
While FBC: Firebreak may not necessarily offer the same story-rich campaign experience that fans can find in the Alan Wake and Control games, the upcoming title does offer a glimpse into the state of affairs inside the Oldest House following the events of Control. The game will also help bridge the gap between Control and its eventual sequel, which has been confirmed by Remedy to be in active development.
