First announced as Project Condor in mid-2021, FBC: Firebreak received its official name and gameplay reveal in October 2024. A Control multiplayer spin-off set sometime after Remedy’s acclaimed 2019 thriller, the game follows members of the titular Firebreak unit as they clean up Hiss-infected threats within the Oldest House. Back in April, Remedy committed to a concrete release date for its upcoming title: June 17.

No details on the selection process have been shared, suggesting that invites won't be sent on a first-come, first-serve basis. Those selected to participate in the closed technical test will receive an access code for their platform of choice via email sometime before May 15. Based on social media reports from fans, invites had not started arriving as of the early afternoon hours (ET) on May 12. Remedy previously confirmed that its upcoming title will retail for $39.99, or $10 extra for the Deluxe Edition. FBC: Firebreak will be a day-one Xbox Game Pass release, available via the PC and Ultimate tiers of Microsoft's subscription service.

FBC: Firebreak will also launch on PlayStation Plus. This comprehensive release strategy aims to help the game achieve strong early momentum, which is of paramount importance for any multiplayer experience. Remedy has yet to specify how long it intends to keep supporting its upcoming co-op shooter with content updates.
