Summary
- Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has added Ken Masters and Chun Li from the Street Fighter franchise to its roster.
- The fighting game is expected to launch in April 2025 and will be the first new Fatal Fury game in 26 years.
The upcoming 2-D fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has announced the addition of two playable crossover characters from the world of Street Fighter — Ken Masters and Chun Li. Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves is expected to launch in April 2025, and developer SNK has been biding its time with roster reveals over the past few months.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves was announced in 2022 during the EVO fighting game competition, set to revive the series after the last game was released in 1999. The first look at gameplay came in June, and since that time, SNK has continued to announce and tease both crossover fighters and the return of classic Fatal Fury characters to the roster.
A new trailer for the upcoming game shows off still images of both Ken and Chun-Li sporting updated versions of their classic looks from early Street Fighter games, with Ken in his red, sleeveless gi and Chun-Li sporting her blue qipao. These stills are juxtaposed against images of classic Fatal Fury characters Terry Bogard and Mai Shuranui, who will be making their return in the upcoming game. With the announcement of the two Street Fighter characters, the game's roster size currently sits at 16, though there's still plenty of time for more reveals before the title's launch next April.

Despite SNK and Capcom's competition throughout the 1990s for dominance in the fighting game sphere, the two companies' most popular fighters have had multiple crossovers into each other's worlds. Fatal Fury's Terry and Mai appeared in Street Fighter 6 this year as part of the game's Year 2 pass. While the game also introduced other playable characters who didn't trace their origins back to original Street Fighter lore, the crossover was the first time that Street Fighter 6 welcomed in roster additions from another developer's fighting game franchise. The positive reception to the move inspired producer Shuhei Matsumoto to say that he hoped to see more crossover characters added in the future.
While the upcoming SNK game will mark a return for Fatal Fury after more than a quarter of a century, its characters have remained far from dormant. The King of Fighters celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, and although the fighting game series ran alongside Fatal Fury for six years and released its most recent game in 2022, it has also featured fighters from multiple SNK properties, including Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, Ikari Warriors, and Psycho Soldier.
