These reports note that the final push leading this game to this state was that its core tech team, known as Talisker, was put to work on Project Blackbird, the main Far Cry 7 project.
Far Cry Project Maverick Reportedly Rebooted
Originally, Project Maverick was intended to be a portion of Far Cry 7, offering gamers a chance at survival in the Alaskan wilderness, fighting off players as well as AI-controlled animals and soldiers. Because this ambitious multiplayer component seemed to have so much more to offer, it was given a dedicated team and turned into a standalone project in 2023.
