Aside from their beautiful open worlds and rock-solid gunplay, the Far Cry games have also become admired for their well-written characters who have only gotten better with each subsequent game. Though everyone already knows about some of the series' most popular male figures, such as Vaas and Pagan Min, the Far Cry games have also seen their fair share of standout female characters too, who manage to steal every scene they appear in.
These characters aren't just damsels in distress either, as they often play very big roles in the story and are shown to be more than capable of holding their own when a situation calls for it. The series has seen a plethora of amazing female heroes and villains throughout the years, but when it comes to which are the most memorable and iconic, these individuals listed below are most certainly at the top of the list.
7 Daisy Lee
If Not For The Courageous Efforts Of Daisy, Escaping The Island Would Have Been Impossible In Far Cry 3
Far Cry 3
- Released
- November 29, 2012
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft Montreal
- Genre(s)
- FPS, Open-World
Far Cry 3 starts off with Jason and his entire group of friends being kidnapped by a group of pirates who intend to sell them off to the highest bidder, but while Jason manages to barely escape with his life intact, it seems as though the others might not have been so lucky. However, it eventually turns out that Daisy, the girlfriend of Jason's older brother, actually managed to evade her captors and even started working on a boat to leave the island with.
That's not all though, as she even managed to convince a crazy doctor to help her out after she became poisoned during her escape, so needless to say, she went through quite an ordeal just to keep herself alive. Daisy proves to be an incredibly valuable ally to the player throughout the game, while also acting as a voice of reason once she starts to question Jason's violent antics that he displays throughout the story.
6 Nana

Far Cry New Dawn

- February 15, 2019
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Kyiv
- Platform(s)
- PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4
- Genre(s)
- First-Person Shooter
Nina might not look like the most intimidating mercenary at first glance, but in reality, she's one of the most dangerous sharpshooters in the entire series. After the nuclear explosion lay waste to the land at the end of Far Cry 5, Nana occupied her time by honing her sniper skills in her makeshift shooting range, and it's fair to say that this time was very well spent, as she eventually became deadly accurate with her trusty sniper rifle, making her an incredibly dangerous companion if players can manage to earn her trust.
Far Cry: Ranking Every Major Villain From Worst To Best
If there is one thing the Far Cry series is known for, it is for showcasing absolutely compelling villains in every entry of the franchise.
It's honestly quite staggering just how efficient Nana really is on the battlefield, since not only is she more than capable of popping off enemy heads from afar, but she's even able to see through smokescreens, and even gains the ability to shoot through cover too. She also has a goofier side to her personality that shines through whenever she's around people that she's close to, resulting in her being an incredibly fun Gun For Hire to bring along for the ride.
5 Amita
Amita's Belief In Modernizing Kyrat Makes Her A Genuinely Thought-Provoking Companion
Far Cry 4
- Released
- November 18, 2014
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft Montreal
- Genre(s)
- FPS, Open-World
After players narrowly escape the clutches of the devious Pagan Min at the beginning of Far Cry 4, they'll be introduced to the Golden Path; a rag-tag group of freedom fighters who's sole objective is to end Pagan's rule of Kyrat by any means necessary. Although Sabal claims himself to be the leader of the group, it's also made very clear that Amita holds a lot of influence within the camp too, leading to a lot of conflict between the two where the player can choose to either side with one or the other throughout the story.
Amita believes that pressing forward and modernizing the country is the best way to tear down Pagan's influence. However, this does also mean that she's more than willing to participate in some dubious activities if it means fulfilling her goal, such as playing a big part in Kyrat's thriving drug trade, for example. She's a very thought-provoking character who acts as the perfect foil to Sabal's more traditional way of thinking, and her involvement in the story helps to elevate Far Cry 4's already fantastic narrative to a whole new level.
4 Noore Najjar
Noore's Crucial Role To The Story And Infectious Charisma Makes Her Much More Than A Throwaway Boss
Far Cry 4
- Released
- November 18, 2014
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft Montreal
- Genre(s)
- FPS, Open-World
Initially, Noore is presented as being one of Far Cry 4's major antagonists who the player will be tasked with taking down at some point or another, but it actually turns out that she's much more than simply a forgettable sub-boss. In actuality, Noore's entire family had been taken hostage by Pagan Min several years before the start of the game, prompting her to ask Ajay to help rescue them before they're executed. Because Noore is presented as being a very devious and mysterious character though, it constantly feels as though she could turn her back on the player at any moment, making her genuinely interesting as a sort of anti-hero.
Noore is also the head of the Shanath Arena, a giant colliseum where bandits, thugs, and even prisoners are forced to duke it out while Noore watches from the sidelines, sometimes even getting involved herself. She's a character with plenty of background and lore which can be explored throughout the game, and her huge involvement in the core story makes her a very memorable member of Far Cry 4's cast of characters.
3 Dani Rojas
Dani Is A Lot More Proactive And Fun To Be Around Compared To Previous Protagonists In The Series
Far Cry 6
- Released
- October 6, 2021
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft
- Platform(s)
- PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia
After being thrown into the middle of a chaotic uprising against the evil dictator, Antón Castillo, Dani goes through one hell of an emotional rollercoaster during the events of Far Cry 6. What really helps Dani stand out compared to other protagonists in the franchise is just how animated she is, always having something to say about the ongoing events and being much more authoritative and confident when speaking to both her allies and enemies.
14 Best Female Soulsborne Bosses
In the Soulsborne universe, there are many women who make for some incredibly difficult boss battles. Here are some of the best.
At her core, she's a very rebellious character who's willing to do whatever it takes to bring down those who are only concerned with causing harm to others, resulting in her being a pretty badass protagonist who feels far more proactive than the series' previous leading characters. Pair this with an exceptional voice over by Nisa Gunduz and it's no wonder why many Far Cry fans consider Dani to be the greatest protagonist ever seen in the series.
2 Citra Talugmai
Citra's Endless Charm And Clever Way With Words Allows Her To Blur The Line Between Ally And Villain
Far Cry 3
- Released
- November 29, 2012
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft Montreal
- Genre(s)
- FPS, Open-World
Throughout almost the entirety of Far Cry 3's story, Citra is constantly trying to get into Jason's head, acting as his ally by inspiring him with courageous words about becoming a "True Warrior". Her charming personality and knowledge of the island's inhabitants make it seem like she might be a useful companion who can help Jason escape the nightmare once and for all, but as the game goes on, it becomes clear that Citra is really seeking something much more selfish and devious, with her eventually becoming an antagonist by the very end.
Because the game does such an excellent job at making Citra seem like a genuine and honest character, players are actually given the option to side with her if they so choose, remaining on the island to become the warrior that Citra always wanted. Therefore, she plays a massively important role in the narrative and deeper themes of Far Cry 3, and her position as a tribal leader makes her a genuinely terrifying antagonist once her true motives are revealed.
1 Faith Seed
The Tragic Story Of How Faith Ended Up In Eden's Gate Makes Her An Incredibly Memorable Character Who Steals Every Scene She's In
Far Cry 5
- Released
- March 27, 2018
- Developer(s)
- Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Toronto
- Platform(s)
- PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, Xbox One
- Genre(s)
- FPS, Open-World
Each of the three Seed family members have something unique that they bring to the table, but many fans argue that Faith is by far the most well-written and compelling character of the bunch, especially because of how tragic her backstory is. After traveling down a very dark path in her life, Faith was eventually "Saved" by Joseph, the head of the Eden's Gate cult, who provides her with a new supplement called "Bliss" which manipulates her mind into believing that Joseph has actually become her savior.
However, as players encounter Faith more and more while traveling through her region, it starts becoming clear that she's slowly starting to realize who she really is, and more specifically, how afraid she actually is of Joseph, who uses her as one of his generals. Faith's traumatic backstory goes a very long way in highlighting just how evil and corrupt Eden's Gate really is, while also making her a very sympathetic antagonist, and a character that's very hard to forget about after putting the game down.
