Ahead of the big Ubisoft Forward event on July 12, Far Cry 6 leaked on the PlayStation Store, revealing the game's February 18, 2021 release date and a variety of other information about the game. The Far Cry 6 box art was part of the big leak, showing a child character on the cover who some have theorized is actually a young version of iconic Far Cry 3 villain Vaas, meaning the upcoming Far Cry 6 could very well be a prequel.

This is just speculation at this time, as Ubisoft has not even officially announced Far Cry 6. However, the PlayStation Store leak is solid evidence that the game is in fact in development, and it's likely that fans will get the official announcement sooner rather than later.

The most likely scenario is that Far Cry 6  will be revealed at the Ubisoft Forward event on Sunday, July 12. It's then when the company plans on showcasing its big upcoming projects, including previously-announced games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla as well as new titles. However, if Diego is Vaas as theorized, it's possible that Ubisoft will still keep that bit of information underwraps, as it may actually be intended as a plot twist or something along those lines.

Theories on Far Cry 6's story will continue between now and when fans actually have their hands on the game. According to the leak, the Far Cry 6 release date is February 18, 2021, with the game getting both a current- and next-gen release. The language in the PlayStation Store leak leaves the door open to the possibility that Far Cry 6 for PS5 and Xbox Series X will come at a later date in 2021, though, so fans should keep that in mind.

Far Cry 6 is rumored to be launching on February 18, 2021 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
