One of the main places players will spend their time is at their Base Camp, located on a remote island with mysterious secrets. Their island is rated on a scale of one to five, and increasing it has major benefits. In Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, players get to own and customize an island. The Base Camp is where players spend most of the game outside story missions and resource expeditions. It is also where Buddies live when they aren't out and about with the player as a Party Member.

Players unlock the Island Rating feature after Chapter 3. All islands start with a level 1 rating, but players get special effects, such as Celestia's Gift requirements reduced at the Goddess Statue as it increases. This makes converting Strangelings into Buddies much more accessible, especially early on. Players can check their Island Rating at any time by interacting with a Goddess Statue.

The Goddess Statue will give players hints on increasing their Island Rating.

Clearing debris is the quickest way to increase an island's Rating. However, clearing most spots requires several island residents. This is a win-win, as the higher the number of Buddies living there, the higher the island's Rating.

Players can also increase their island rating by crafting and placing furniture. Signs, benches, paths, and other decorations are surefire ways to boost the star rating. Players can purchase crafting recipes from the Carpenter and other shops. This will only take players so far, as building infrastructure and new buildings is required to start hitting higher star levels. Bridges and other major infrastructure are unlocked as players level up their Base Camp by completing Bulletin Board Tasks.

Finally, House Expansions and Upgrades must be purchased to increase an island's Rating. These can be bought by talking to Cooke inside the Base Camp Guild. Players must earn a lot of Dosh to fix up their house, so it is good to start saving for this sooner rather than later.

How to Get a 5-Star Island Rating in Fantasy Life i

Achieving 5-Stars is no simple feat in Fantasy Life i, and players will need to put some time and Dosh into the endeavor. There are also specific parameters they must hit to qualify for the 5-Star Rating:

Clear all debris
Build the Gallery
Build at least four types of infrastructure
Build at least one farm
Upgrade the house twice

Once all this is complete, players should have their 5-star Rating. Upgrading the house, which costs 100K Dosh, will be the most challenging part, but everything else is easily done and will most likely happen naturally as players progress through the story.
