With so many lives to explore, Fantasy Life I: The Girl Who Steals Time offers hundreds of hours of entertainment, and that's some meaty content for completionists, who want to unlock every achievement and experience everything the game has to offer, without leaving a single corner of the map unexplored.
The progression mechanics, however, will indeed keep some areas unavailable to explore, saving some content for the endgame. Beating the story in Fantasy Life I is not the end of all things, but it's just the beginning of some more content. Speaking of unexplored areas, the endgame reveals the secret behind purple seals that you may have seen upon your explorations of caves, blocking some branches of the path.

How To Lift Purple Seals In Fantasy Life I
First of all, players must complete the story campaign. After the credits roll, go back to Base Camp and speak with Trip, the robotic bird that always follows you. Trip will let you know of a stone slate that he collected after the final boss fight.
Meet Edward inside the Guild Office and talk to him about the Stone Slate. Edward will let you know that there should be more Stone Slates to find, but this one already reveals some Dark Power recipes, including Dark Fire, an item that is used to lift the purple seals. It only drops from Shadow Monsters, which can be found inside the giant fort in Ginormosia. The fort is located north of West Greatgut Plains.
If you have finished the story mode, you have already visited the location. Keep in mind that unlocking access to the fort already requires story progression as well. And Dark Fire will not drop before talking to Edward about the Slate. So, there is no point in farming Shadow Monsters before beating the campaign.
Any Shadow creature inside the fort has a chance to drop Dark Fire, but remember that it is a rare item. So, it will not drop frequently. In full run of the fort, you may acquire only one Dark Fire. So, to farm it, you have to exit and enter the fort repeatedly to respawn the enemies inside.
The bad news is that one Dark Fire is not enough to lift one seal. The purple seals are similar to debris in the Base Camp. There are different levels of seals available, and each one will require a certain amount of Dark Fire. The purple seal inside Quetzal Nest, for example, requires 10 Dark Fires. And that's a low-level area unlocked by default from the game's beginning. So, you expect a heavy grind for Dark Fire.
Unfortunately, there is no place like Fort Gardhart to farm Shadow Monsters. However, you can unlock the skill for increasing the drop rate of enemies, which boosts the chances of enemies dropping items after death by 10%.
