Gathering materials is a huge part of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, and hunting for rare drops is a core aspect of the experience. One of the first rare materials that players need to collect is Elder Oak Logs, which are required to complete "The Oak Tree's Story" Woodcutter quest, finish "A Quaint Old Tree" request, and craft various wooden items as a Carpenter.

Elder Oak Logs are used in a bunch of things in Fantasy Life i, which is why it's so frustrating that they don't drop very often. As you'd expect, Elder Oak Logs can be harvested from oak trees, but there are a few things to keep in mind when farming for them. The overall drop rate is low, but there are ways to boost your odds.

How To Get Elder Oak Logs In Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time

Fantasy Life I The Girl Who Steals Time Great Oak Tree-1

Elder Oak Logs are a very rare drop from oak trees in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time. It seems like Elder Oak Logs only have a single-digit percent chance of dropping from normal oak trees and a slightly higher chance of dropping from great oak trees.

Any level of oak tree can drop Elder Oak Logs, so don't skip the low-level ones in Eternia Village.

Having a higher Woodcutting level will make the Elder Oak Log farming process much faster, so grind as much XP as you can and choose the Woodcutting skill upgrades on the right-hand side of the Skill Board to enhance your abilities even further. You can also purchase food like Honey Flan that will buff your gathering abilities from the restaurant vendor in the Capital of Mysteria. It's not too expensive, so buy a few and chop as many trees as you can.

How To Complete The Oak Tree's Story In Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time

Fantasy Life i The Girl Who Steals Time Fine Oak Axe-1

Most Fantasy Life i players will need Elder Oak Logs to complete a Woodcutter quest so they can advance from Fledgling to Apprentice. Thankfully, there are more than enough Woodcutter quests, so you can just skip The Oak Tree's Story and focus on other objectives to earn enough Reward Stars to rank up. The drop rates for Elder Oak Logs are really low, so there's no shame in moving on to other quests.

The best way to gather five Elder Oak Logs for The Oak Tree's Story is to eat Honey Flan, bring some allies to cheer you on and provide buffs while you chop, and craft a Fine quality or higher axe to deal more damage with each swing. If you've made it to Faraway Island, you can purchase a Pine Axe from the tool shop instead of leveling up your Carpenter Life to build your own. You should definitely level up your Carpenter, however, as crafting custom tools is the best way to get ahead in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time.
