Recent rumors of Fantasian coming to PC have also been confirmed, as the official Twitter account for the game noted that the newly announced version of Mistwalker's RPG will also come to Steam, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. In a past interview, Final Fantasy series creator and Mistwalker CEO Hironobu Sakaguchi said Fantasian was conceived following his chance encounter with a few Apple employees who were fans of his beloved JRPG franchise. Another video game legend, longtime Final Fantasy contributor Nobuo Uematsu, was involved in the project as its composer. The veteran songwriter previously claimed that health issues could leave him unable to score a major video game beyond Fantasian, but Uematsu is still willing to work on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy.
Mistwalker has not released a new title since the initial launch of Fantasian on Apple's game subscription service, but Sakaguchi did reveal in 2022 that he had started writing the story of an unannounced dark fantasy title. Mistwalker's other works include the Blue Dragon series and the critically acclaimed yet forgotten The Last Story for the Wii.
