- Fans may have to wait a while for the release of Fallout Season 2 on Prime Video.
Many are eagerly awaiting Fallout’s second season after the video game adaptation became the second most-watched series on Prime Video earlier this year. Now there’s been confirmation that filming is finally underway on Fallout Season 2 with Walton Goggins sharing the first picture of himself back in character.
Prime Video released Fallout’s first season earlier in 2024 and it was quickly embraced by fans of Bethesda’s video games, as well as newcomers to the franchise. The series avoided adapting any one specific Fallout game and instead charted a new story using many of the familiar character types from the games, including vault dwellers, ghouls, and the Brotherhood of Steel. The cast includes Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, Kyle MacLachlan, Moises Arias and Leslie Uggams. Prime Video’s take on Fallout ended up being a huge success, with the series earning multiple Primetime Emmy nominations at the 2024 ceremony, including for Outstanding Drama Series.
The Ghoul Is Back In Fallout Season 2
Fallout was renewed for a second season shortly after its first season debuted and many have been eagerly waiting for the new season to move into production. Season 2 now appears to officially be in production with Walton Goggins sharing a photo on his Instagram featuring him undergoing the prosthetic makeup process to become the Ghoul. “Back in the saddle… Deux. Gatdamn it feels good to slip on this skin. I do this sh*t for the love of the Game,” Goggins wrote in the post.
During interviews for Fallout’s first season, Goggins shared (via Entertainment Weekly) that it took around two hours every day in the makeup chair to become his character. The process involves a bald cap and then the application of prosthetic lips, nose, cheeks, throat, and forehead to replicate the red irradiated appearance that ghouls possess. The process was a worthy one for Goggins who ended up earning an Emmy nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his role.

Where Will Fallout Season 2 Take Viewers Next?
Goggins’ social media is not the only recent hint that filming on Fallout Season 2 is underway, with photos of a mysterious new set spotted in Los Angeles earlier this month. The set featured a rundown motel named the Royal Hawaiian that also included a sign for Novac, an infamous location from Fallout: New Vegas. It’s expected that a large portion of Fallout’s second season will explore the location of New Vegas, which was teased at the end of the first season. Fallout: New Vegas is one of the most beloved games in Bethesda’s franchise and many fans are eager to see how it’s represented on-screen in Prime Video’s series.
There’s still no indication of when exactly Fallout Season 2 will be released on Prime Video. Filming on Season 1 began in July 2022, and the episodes were released almost two years later in April 2024, which indicates there’s still quite a wait before Fallout Season 2 hits screens, likely in 2026.
Fallout Season 1 is available to stream on Prime Video.
