Major spoilers ahead for Fallout's Season 2 finale.

Fallout Season 2 is now officially over, and there were some huge revelations made in the one-hour finale. Cooper's fate after giving the president the cold fusion diode, Barb and Janey's cryochambers, Hank and Steph's shocking past, and Lucy and Maximus' reunion were all given the spotlight. The Fallout finale was as thrilling as it was frustrating, and one of the most surprising teases for Season 3 has big implications: The Ghoul is going to Colorado.

The Ghoul made it to the special management-only Vault in New Vegas, but Barba and Janey's cryochambers were empty. Well, mostly empty. In Barb's chamber, a postcard for Colorado is found on the floor with a message on the back: "Colorado was a good idea." During a flashback in the finale, Barb and Cooper half-jokingly discuss getting away to Colorado, but it looks like Barb and Janey may have ended up there after all. This sets up some really compelling possibilities, because Colorado hasn't been fully visited in the mainline Fallout games. There is one forgotten spin-off that features the setting, though. Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel's place in the canon has remained unofficial (mostly) for years, but the game has key plot points specifically tied to Colorado. This suddenly makes Fallout Tactics one of the most intriguing Fallout games right now, because it could hint at what Season 3 has in store.

I’m a Fallout 4 Voiced Protagonist Defender, But These Are the Changes I’d Make Before Fallout 5

I don't mind Fallout 4's voiced protagonist, but there are some major changes that should be made before Bethesda debuts Fallout 5.

Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel's Colorado Setting Could Make Fallout Season 3 the Wildest Chapter Yet

Fallout Tactics is very different from the mainline games. It's a strategy game instead of an RPG, but there are still a few role-playing elements involved. Colorado isn't the only setting the game is set in, though. Fallout Tactics takes place across the Midwest, giving the spotlight to places like Kansas, Missouri, and Chicago. Even if the game isn't canon, it's worth checking out the lore just to see a side of Fallout that hasn't been shown before. What makes Fallout going to Colorado so special, though, is Vault 0.

Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel was developed by Micro Forte.

Fallout Season 3 Could Make Vault 0 Officially Canon

Vault 0 has only been featured in Fallout Tactics, but it has a deeply important role. Instead of being an experiment, Vault 0 is a central hub for the brightest minds of pre-war America to live. Members of Vault 0 were all hooked up to one main source: the Calculator. The Calculator was a supercomputer that assisted these Vault dwellers in thinking of the best ways to build an ideal society. Unfortunately, since this is the Fallout franchise, this didn't go according to plan. Backup systems for neuralinks weren't included in Vault 0, which led to a lot of citizens suffering extreme brain damage.

With Fallout's season finale teasing that Barb has run off to Colorado with Janey, it's very possible that she could be at Vault 0 or the facility it's located in, the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. Barb and Janey may not be the only people waiting in Colorado, either. The Enclave might have also found its home in the Rocky Mountains.

Fallout's Season Finale Confirms That the Enclave is More Than Just a Bogeyman

The Fallout show still hasn't officially said that the Enclave has built a secret base in Colorado, but the finale made it crystal clear that the organization has been the biggest villain all along. The Enclave has been briefly touched upon throughout the series, but the Season 2 finale proved that the shadow government has been pulling the strings way more than originally thought. It turns out that Hank MacLean has actually been working for the Enclave the entire time. Not only that, but he and Steph were married before the bombs dropped, so she's also in on the Enclave's plans. It was a wild twist that further proves the secret group is going to be front and center next season. For the first time since briefly in Season 1, Fallout gave another sneak peek at an Enclave compound, and the surrounding terrain looks an awful lot like the snowy mountains of Colorado.

It's very possible that the Enclave have made a home in the Cheyenne Mountain Complex. Considering that the complex is a real-life stronghold that the U.S. Government built during the Cold War, it would only make sense for it to be repurposed by the group. The Enclave in Fallout is one of the most fascinating and powerful factions in the whole franchise, and the Rocky Mountains would be the perfect location to remain secluded.

Fallout Tactics' Confusing Place in the Franchise's Canon Could Turn Vault 0 Into a Blank Slate

Fallout Tactics isn't canon, but there are a few exceptions. The only Fallout Tactics plot points that have actually been made canon are the Midwest Brotherhood of Steel chapter and the group's ability to build airships. Vault 0 may have a backstory in Fallout Tactics, but that doesn't mean the show has to fully honor it. Since Vault 0 isn't canon yet, the show can either scrap the Calculator storyline or rework it to fit with a narrative that makes more sense for a Barb and Enclave arc. There's no telling what Season 3 will do with the seeds that Season 2 planted, but there are plenty of loose threads that could lead to some fascinating destinations.

Fallout 76's NCR Power Armor is Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Bethesda wasted no time adding Maximus’ new attire to Fallout 76, but the way it was introduced is sparking outrage for two key reasons.

Major Plot Points That Fallout is Saving For Season 3

  • How Hank helped Steph climb Vault Tec's corporate ladder
  • Hank's mind control victims that are roaming the wasteland
  • Barb and Janey's fates
  • The Enclave's motivations
  • FEV still hasn't been fully addressed.
  • Where does Norm go from here?
  • What's going to happen to Vault 32 and 33?
  • Will Lucy and Maximus join the war in New Vegas?

There is still a lot to tie up. The good news is that Fallout Season 3 is already shaping up to be incredibly exciting. The bad news is that it will probably be a while before it arrives. Filming for Season 3 isn't kicking off until May 2026, so answers to these questions probably won't come until 2027.
