The 2010 RPG and its sibling, Bethesda Game Studios' Fallout 4, have seen their respective player bases rise following the recent release of the Amazon Prime Video television adaptation.
Among the settlements scattered throughout Fallout: New Vegas' post-apocalyptic rendition of the Mojave is Searchlight, a ruined town located at the convergence of Nevada State Route 164 and Highway 95. Aside from featuring a military outpost for the New California Republic faction called Camp Searchlight, this area has a police station, fire station, school, trailer park, and two churches. A content creator has managed to build Searchlight in Far Cry 5, giving the town a next-generation visual upgrade.
In a recently uploaded YouTube video, user Mojo Swoptops provides a walking tour of their Far Cry 5 recreation of Searchlight. This project, which was built using the map editor of Far Cry 5's Arcade mode, was quite challenging to achieve, according to Mojo Swoptops, because the YouTuber found it difficult to survive in the area while gathering references. Searchlight and its NCR military camp are teeming with ghouls, which are former humans who have mutated due to high radiation exposure. These creatures are a pretty common sight in the Mojave Wasteland, but players should still be cautious around them as some of Fallout: New Vegas' most powerful enemies are ghouls, such as the Glowing One and Vault 34's Overseer.
This is not the first time Mojo Swoptops has created a faithful replica of a location from the Fallout series. The YouTuber recreated Fallout: New Vegas' Goodsprings with the Far Cry 5 level editor, giving the game's starting area a next-generation visual overhaul, though Mojo Swoptops' Goodpsrings experienced snow instead of the scorching heat and dry winds that the Mojave is usually known for.
Popular Video Game Franchises Recreated in Far Cry 5
Mojo Swoptops has recreated locations from other game franchises using the Far Cry 5 map editor as well. The content creator reimagined Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare's iconic Shipment in Far Cry 5, giving the rendition more personality than the original by adding flowers, guitars, and graffiti. The YouTuber has also brought the Skyrim city of Dawnstar into Ubisoft's 2018 shooter.
The Fallout games - Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4, in particular - have received huge popularity boosts thanks to the well-received Amazon TV show that started airing on April 10. Fallout: New Vegas was able to break its all-time player count record on Steam, while Fallout 4's digital and retail sales skyrocketed by 7,500%.
