Summary
- Fallout: London has finally been released after more than half a decade of development.
- The much-anticipated Fallout 4 mod is exclusively hosted by GOG, and comes with a dedicated launcher that allows it to be installed with a single click.
- The one-click installation option is only available for owners of the GOG version of Fallout 4. Those who own the game and its DLC via Steam can still play Fallout: London after rolling back the game's next-gen update.
Fallout: London is finally here, having been shadow-dropped on July 25. While the long-awaited Fallout 4 mod can only be downloaded via GOG, it can be installed even without owning a GOG version of the game.
Developed by modding collective Team FOLON, Fallout: London was originally revealed in 2021 as one of the most ambitious mods for Bethesda's 2015 RPG ever envisioned. Much like its name implies, this community project offers players a chance to explore a post-apocalyptic version of the capital of England. The mod suffered several delays over the course of its development, the most recent of which was caused by Bethesda's next-gen update for Fallout 4.

Fallout: London Shadow-Drops on GOG, Also Supports Steam Version of Fallout 4
The long-awaited project was finally released on July 25, when it shadow-dropped on GOG. CD Projekt's digital storefront offered to host it because the mod's ambitious nature ended up exceeding the baked-in capabilities of popular modding sites. Specifically, the newly released version of Fallout: London requires 65GB of storage space, not accounting for the roughly 30GB taken up by Fallout 4. Despite being a GOG exclusive, the mod is also compatible with the Steam version of Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPG.
Fallout 4 GOG Version Supports One-Click Fallout: London Installation
However, owning the game via GOG allows for a much more streamlined installation experience. That's because the GOG version hasn't yet received the Fallout 4 next-gen update, which rolled out in late April and proceeded to break a wide variety of mods. Players who own Fallout 4: GOTY Edition via GOG can hence install Fallout: London via a dedicated launcher compatible with GOG Galaxy and offline installers. The process itself requires just a single click, thus being as simple as it gets.
Fallout 4 Steam Version Needs To Be Downgraded For Fallout: London
Meanwhile, those who own the base game and all of its DLC via Steam will first have to roll back the Fallout 4 next-gen update. The process of doing so is a bit more complicated, and requires fiddling with the Steam Console. Fallout: London currently only supports the 1.10.163.0 version of the game, which is its latest build prior to the next-gen patch. Although Team FOLON confirmed that another version of the mod compatible with its next-gen update is also in the works, it is presently not ready to commit to a firm time frame for its release.
The GOG version of Fallout 4 will be patched with the next-gen update after Bethesda is done fixing bugs stemming from that release. Epic Games Store copies of Fallout 4 don't work with Fallout: London at the moment because they are impossible to downgrade.
