Fallout 76 has announced the launch date for its Season 21 content will be June 3. Cleverly titled Gone Fission, the additions in Fallout 76 Season 21 will focus heavily on the game's newly introduced fishing mechanics, offering the ability to fish in any deep body of water and bringing a lot of related gear and decorations.
Players on the game's public test servers got their first taste of the new mechanics in early April, when the Fallout 76 fishing feature testing went live. The initial testing run introduced a new area called Fisherman's Rest, where a character explains the basics of fishing to players. It also gave a first impression of how the new feature will work, introducing mechanics that include an upgradeable fishing rod, various kinds of bait, and region-specific fish.
The Cardinal Sins of Fallout 76 Explained
Players who venture into Fallout 76’s wasteland should avoid committing these cardinal sins for the benefit of themselves and the greater community.
Bethesda has now revealed that the start of Fallout 76 Season 21 will incorporate these fleshed-out elements into the full game when it goes live on June 3. The game's official website confirms that players will be able to fish in any body of water deep enough to swim in across Appalachia, and it also promises to keep the stock of fish fresh with a system that will rotate the fish in different regions each month. Players looking for a collection challenge will also have a variety of rare axolotls to seek out.
Fallout 76 Teases Gone Fission Features
Along with the announcement, Bethesda has also released a trailer filled with features that players can expect to see with the launch of Gone Fission. Players may be tempted to build a new camp in Season 21, as the update will introduce a wide variety of new decorations themed around fishing, which they will be able to purchase with Season Tickets. There are multiple on-the-water features, including a houseboat, a rusted-out buoy, and large floating structures resembling lily pads, which are capable of supporting furniture like the new Drowned Chaise Lounge. Also coming with the next update are some new wearable gear pieces, like snorkel goggles and an oxygen tank backpack, new paint schemes for weapons, and plenty of smaller fishing-themed decorations, which include hanging buoys, neon signs, a bottled octopus, a large taxidermied shark jaw, and a putrid-looking bucket of dead fish.
In addition to these features, players can look forward to making a new Fallout 76 ally, with the addition of lab coat-clad Ghoul lite ally character Dottie. There is also a new crafting station in the form of a cannery, and players may have fun testing out their strength against a new Poseidon-themed arm wrestling machine.
