Fallout 76 has experienced a boost in popularity after the release of the Fallout TV show. The previously abandoned game has quickly become populated with more players than ever before. As players return to the beloved franchise, they might want to experience the Appalachian wasteland for the first time.
After many updates, various NPCs have been added to the game to bring the wasteland to life. This includes allies that you can hire. These characters are not like companions in the previous games and cannot travel with you on your adventures. They instead will hang around your CAMP and guard it along with useful buffs. The latest America's Playground update added Brotherhood Initate Del Lawson. Here is how you can hire this new ally for your CAMP.
Purchase Lawson at the Atomic Shop
Unlike the other allies, Lawson is not found through regular gameplay. You need to enter the Atomic Shop to purchase him for free. The shop can be accessed from the main and pause menus during gameplay. Remember that while pausing during the game you can still be attacked by enemies.
Switch to the CAMP page, then cycle to the Allies tab. Click on the Vault Boy style icon of Initiate Lawson to acquire him. Check the Atomic Shop regularly for free items. There will be a large green icon when there are new free items you have not redeemed yet. The shop will cycle through different items every week and with updates. You can also spend Atoms in the shop by acquiring them through in-game challenges or real-life currency.
Recruit Lawson at Camp
Every ally has a CAMP workshop object that you must build to recruit them. Lawson's is a Brotherhood of Steel initiate bag just like the one Maximus carries in the TV show. Switch to build mode in your CAMP and go to the allies tab to find it. Place the bag wherever you want in your camp and Initiate Lawson will appear. You can only have one ally in your CAMP at a time, so you may have to scrap any other ally workshop objects.
Initiate Lawson will act as a vendor and armed guard for your camp. He will comment on events that take place as you progress through the Brotherhood of Steel storyline. His daily buff is called Tune-Up. For 30 minutes, you can repair armor, power armor, and weapons to 130% condition.
