In Fallout 76, some of the best weapons you'll get in the game will be a bit more difficult to obtain, with some even requiring you to purchase their plan in order to craft them, like the Mechanic's Best Friend. For Whistle in the Dark, this weapon is one of the best ranged options you can get, but won't be easy to obtain.
Luckily, there are a few methods you can use to get this weapon. If you're curious about how you can get Whistle in the Dark, either for a price or completely for free, we will show you exactly how to get the automatic rifle.

How to Get Whistle in the Dark in Fallout 76
For those who are looking to unlock the Whistle in the Dark automatic weapon, there are a couple methods that can be used. In this section, we will show you how you can get your hands on it, and what it will require.
Purchase from Minerva
The first method you can use to get Whistle in the Dark is to purchase it from the vendor Minerva. She is a traveling vendor, meaning she is not always in the same spot and moves around frequently. Currently, you can find her at The Crater, which can be found in the northeastern section of the map. It'll be west of Knife Edge, and north of Philippi Battlefield Cemetery. When you arrive at The Crater, just turn left and head through the gray and red overhang, and her tent will be on the right.
To purchase the plan for Whistle in the Dark from Minerva, this is going to cost you 1000 Gold Bullion, since she is a Gold Bullion Vendor. This will be completely different from Caps, and can only be obtained through completing public and daily quests and receiving Treasury Notes, or purchasing them from Smiley at The Wayward. 50 Bullion will cost 1,000 Caps.
Complete Daily Ops
Another way you can get your hands on Whistle in the Dark is by completing a Daily Op. There is a chance you can get the plan for the weapon as a reward, but only for players who are currently Level 50 and above. To complete a Daily Op, you can find some on the map page, underneath the section at the bottom left.

Is Whistle in the Dark Good?
Before you go spend your hard-earned Gold Bullions on the Whistle in the Dark weapon, you might be wondering if it is worth the cost. For this weapon, here are its stats:
- Damage: 26 (Level 30), 29 (Level 40), 33 (Level 50)
- Fire Rate: 40
- Range: 120
- Accuracy: 71
While the damage you get from Whistle in the Dark is not necessarily the best, its ability to shoot from such a long distance and its fire rate will make it easy to multiply this damage in just seconds. Along with this, it also has a few special effects, including Nocturnal, VATS Enhanced, and Perception. Nocturnal will increase your damage at night, VATS Enhanced will give you a +50% VATS hit chance, and Perception will give you one additional point to your Perception stat.
While this weapon is pretty decent, we only recommend picking it up if you have Gold Bullions to spare, or even a large amount of Caps to spend at The Wayward. Otherwise, the price might be too high for it to be worth it, but it is certainly useful for those with a large amount of Gold Bullions.
