Lead is one of the core components needed to make conventional ammunition in Fallout 76. Players will need tons of it if they want to keep their ammo stocks full, but this is easier said than done considering how difficult it is to lug large quantities of lead around the wasteland.

Gamers who want to level up fast in Fallout 76 can use these simple tips to get the job done.

While lead can be obtained by scrapping various junk items, it can also be mined from ore deposits scattered around the map. The general area around lead deposits are some of the best spots to place a CAMP in Fallout 76 — if you're looking for a good place to put down your base for ammo crafting, here are a few good locations.

Where To Find Lead Deposits in Fallout 76

Like most ore deposits, you can find natural lead veins in rocky and mountainous regions. The mountain range west of the Atlas Observatory in the Savage Divide contains a few lead deposits, though searching for these is going to be a hassle. Your best bet at getting lead ore is to visit the Lucky Hole Mine, which is also in the Savage Divide, though it's much closer to the Cranberry Bog region.

Lucky Hole Mine is located just west of Watoga city, near Fort Defiance and Big Bend Tunnel East. It is a highly industrialized area with lots of machinery in and out of the mine itself. You'll encounter a number of enemy types here, including the bog-standard radroaches, ants, mole miners, and Mothman cultists. Make sure to bring some of the best consumables in Fallout 76 to improve your odds of surviving any extended combat encounters.

Fallout 76’s Meta Build Is The Ultimate Power Fantasy

Few RPGs allow players to become a jack of all trades, which makes Fallout 76’s meta build both a guilty pleasure and the ultimate power fantasy.

The mine itself is full of lead ore and crystal deposits. Run around the caves and tunnels, and you'll eventually leave with dozens of lead ore in your inventory. Due to the weight of such items, it's best to place your CAMP near the Lucky Hole Mine so you won't have to travel long even while overencumbered.

If you want to maximize the amount of lead you can get per run, bring Fallout 76's Excavator Power Armor. Not only does it give the usual bonuses you'd expect from a Power Armor suit, but it also significantly increases the amount of ore you get when interacting with deposits. It's not uncommon for players to leave Lucky Hole Mine with hundreds of lead ore after a full run while wearing an Excavator armor suit.
