Fallout 76 was once a lonely wasteland, as there were no human NPCs in the game back when it was first released. Flash forward to the current state of Fallout 76 with how many massive content updates it has received, it’s hard to imagine what the game was like in its early stages compared to how populated the wasteland is nowadays unless players got to experience it firsthand.
Unlike the companions from other modern Fallout games, players can’t recruit permanent companions along for their journey in Fallout 76. However, players can still recruit allies that will remain at the player’s CAMP, often providing unique services, or just bringing a lively presence to the player’s home base. Between each of the different CAMP allies players can recruit in Fallout 76, some of them are far more useful than others, but it generally comes down to personal preference for which allies are best to keep around.
S-Tier CAMP Allies in Fallout 76
- Beckett
- Sofia Daguerre
Beckett and Sofia Daguerrae are currently the only two CAMP allies in Fallout 76 who have their own questlines, which is why the rest of the allies in the game are referred to as “lite” allies. Not to mention, these are also the only two allies that players can develop a relationship with. So, while Beckett and Sofia may not offer special buffs like most other CAMP allies, between their questlines and romance opportunities, Beckett and Sophia are much more memorable characters than the competition.
A-Tier CAMP Allies in Fallout 76
- Adelaide
- Sam Nguyen
- Solomon Hardy
- Xerxo
These CAMP allies provide access to some of the most useful buffs in Fallout 76 or a valuable trading inventory. Even though these buffs can only be activated for one hour, once per day, they can be extremely helpful for players who know how to use this time efficiently.
| CAMP ally | Services |
| Adelaide | Temporarily decreases damage from robots and increases the player’s damage against robots. |
| Sam Nguyen | Provides a temporary buff, at random: increased Charisma, increased harvest from plants/wood, equipment can be repaired beyond normal capacity, reduced building cost at CAMPS and Workshops, or reduced weight of junk items. |
| Solomon Hardy | Provides healing, radiation removal, and disease cure services. |
| Xerxo | Temporarily increases Agility and reduces fast travel costs. |
B-Tier CAMP Allies in Fallout 76
- Raider Punk
- Settler Forager
- Settler Wanderer
These allies don’t sell items or provide unique temporary buffs; instead, they offer a repeatable daily sidequest that will usually reward players with a random legendary weapon or armor piece in Fallout 76, as well as a variety of ammo, stimpaks, and Legendary Scrip. For players who don’t find the temporary buffs that other allies provide to be essential, the short sidequests from these three allies are worthwhile alternatives.
C-Tier CAMP Allies in Fallout 76
- Daphne
- Del Lawson
- Grandma Junko
- Joey Bello
- Katherine Swan
- Leo Petrov
- Maul
- Steven Scarberry
- Yasmine Chowdhury
What makes these allies fall short of the others is that their services are either underwhelming or easy to replicate with cheaper, longer-lasting sources. So, unless players are particularly fond of one of these characters’ personalities or plan to use the ally’s furniture item to build a stylish CAMP in Fallout 76, there are several more useful allies to choose from.
| CAMP Ally | Services |
| Daphne | Temporarily increases Luck and provides an audio cue when near a magazine. |
| Del Lawson | Allows equipment to be repaired beyond normal capacity. |
| Grandma Junko | Fills player’s food and hunger, and temporarily prevents them from depleting. |
| Joey Bello | Temporarily reduces staggers, incoming damage from fire, melee, and explosives. |
| Katherine Swan | Temporarily increases Perception and reduces the weight of energy ammo. |
| Leo Petrov | Extends the effects of Nuka-Cola beverages. |
| Maul | Temporarily increases Strength and radiation resistance, and reduces the weight of melee weapons. |
| Steven Scarberry | Temporarily increases XP gains. |
| Yasmin Chowdhury | Fills the player’s hunger and sells cooking recipes. |
