In Fallout 76, Acid is a base chemical substance used in smelting Ores. As a Waste, it can be found in Glowing and Mutated enemies’ drops. But Acid is also available in the wild in mineral veins.

How to Farm Acid in Fallout 76
To farm Acid players have a few options. They can place mineral extractors over the veins in Hemlock Holes, collect and scrap junk materials that contain Acid, kill Glowing enemies in Blast Zones, or initiate “A Colossal Problem” Event for a chance to fight off herds of Glowing enemies.
Extract Acid Veins
The following workshops in Fallout 76 contain Acid veins:
- Hemlock Holes Maintenance
- Federal Disposal Field HZ-21
- Southwest of Hopewell Cave
- Abandoned Bog Town
- Monongah Power Plant
- Relay tower LW-B1-22
By excavating these locations, players can earn up to 10 Acid per mineral extractor every 20 minutes. (Note that workshops require a quick defense mission and up to 25 Caps to unlock.)
Loot the Acid veins while equipping the Excavator Power Armor for a chance to quadruple the gathered substances.
Scrap Acid-Containing Junk Materials
The best junk items for Acid are HalluciGen Gas Canister, Bag of Chlorine, Abraxo Cleaner, Anti-Freeze Bottle, Beeswax, Bag of Fertilizer, and Makeshift Batteries. Each of these materials can yield 2 to 5 Acid bottles.
Server-hop and go back to junk-filled locations to loot the respawned objects. This will double the amount of gained Acid per run.
Gather Waste Acid from Enemy Drops
Enemies that drop Waste Acid are Floaters, Yao Guai, Cave Cricket Piercers, and Diseased Snallygasters. Kill these creatures and loot their bodies to collect extra bottles of Acid. High-level Fallout 76 players can also take down Grafton Monsters for the same purpose.
Start the Colossal Problem Event
A high-risk, high-reward way of farming Acid is initiating the Colossal Problem Event. For that, the player must launch a nuke on Monongah Mine and proceed to clear the area of Radiated Glowing Mutants. This is the fastest way of collecting Acid, but it requires Legendary equipment, Power Armors, and a group of friends to help with the task.
For better results, equip the Glow Sight Perk Card during the Colossal Problem quest.
Best Locations to Farm Acid
Workshops aside, the best locations for farming Acid through enemy drops are The Deep, Flooded Trainyard, Dolly Sods Wilderness, Philippi Battlefield Cemetery, and Willard Corporate Housing. These locations are filled with Acid-dropping creatures, such as Yao Guai and Snallygasters, making it easier to farm this precious liquid.
