Bethesda has announced that Fallout 4 will be getting another update on the Switch 2 that will add DLSS and fix bugs, but it won't add two control options that players have been asking for. While it's entirely possible that these additions may arrive in Fallout 4 at some point in the future, for now, some players are feeling frustrated.

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition landed on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 24, with all the official content that has been released for the game, including some Creation Club content. While the game isn't perfect on Switch 2, it's performed surprisingly well and has received a lot of praise from players, especially for the option to switch between three different frame rates while exploring the wasteland. However, there have been a pair of missing features that have left players scratching their heads as to why.

Fallout's Vault-Tec is well-known for being morally bankrupt, and here are the most disturbing experiments they ever conducted.

Fallout 4's Next Switch 2 Update Will Add DLSS, But Not New Control Options

In a message from Bethesda, it's been revealed that the next update planned for Fallout 4 on the Nintendo Switch 2 will bring DLSS to the game and fix some stability bugs. DLSS should help to boost the game's appearance without putting excessive strain on the Switch 2's hardware. The same feature is currently available for Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch 2, but is currently missing from Fallout 4. While players are enthusiastic about the game looking potentially even better, many have expressed disappointment that no plans have been announced for gyro or mouse controls to be added to the game. At the moment, Bethesda hasn't provided a date or window for when it plans to release the DLSS update.

Although Fallout 4 has only been out on Switch 2 for a few days, players have been quick to voice their complaints about the lack of these features. Motion control was an option in Skyrim when it launched on the original Switch consoles, and the Switch 2 version of the game currently supports the ability to use the Joy-Cons as mouse controls. Some expected that the same would be present in Fallout 4 at launch, but it didn't happen. The absence of mouse controls, in particular, has baffled some fans, considering that Fallout 4 originally launched on PC and features support for both controllers and mouse and keyboard controls.

Given that Fallout 4 is a new release, it's entirely possible that Bethesda has plans to introduce mouse or gyro controls, or both with a future update. The developer may be ironing out issues with the game's stability and bugs prior to doing this, and getting DLSS set up should help to provide a smoother and better-looking experience for players, which is one of the first things gamers notice, even before they can actually get their hands on the game and play it. However, some players have voiced that they would have preferred for the game to have come out later, if that was what it took for it to launch with these additional options.

Unfortunately, this is just the latest disappointing news for Fallout fans in recent history. During the broadcast of the second season of the Amazon Fallout TV series, an Easter egg countdown was discovered that many believed indicated that a Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas remaster would be shadowdropped on the same day as the Season 2 finale. However, that day came and went with no announcements, as the countdown instead ended with a 3D exploration feature that let players look around in Mr. House's Penthouse.

While the countdown didn't end the way that fans had hoped and there's no word on Fallout 4 getting mouse or gyro support, it's likely just a matter of time for both of these things. The existence of a remastered version of Fallout 3 has been leaked multiple times, with current rumors indicating that it's currently in development. With any luck and a little more time, frustrated Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 fans might just get what they're hoping for.
