Fallout 4 is one of the biggest games in the Fallout franchise and is definitely the biggest one that Bethesda has released. The game follows the Sole Survivor as they leave Vault 111 in search of their son, who was kidnapped.

During the game, players will be able to participate in several different DLCs, if they own them. In Far Harbor, players will learn of the legend of The Red Death, a beast that lurks around Red Death Island. Here's how players can start the quest to kill this beast.

How To Start The Great Hunt Quest In Fallout 4

The Great Hunt quest is one of the quests that The Mariner will give the players while they are helping out the citizens of Far Harbor. After completing her first two quests (Hull Breach and The Changing Tides), players can help her with her final quest. She will tell the Sole Survivor that there is a beast known as The Red Death, a ferocious beast that has been attacking those who are trying to leave Far Harbor.

Upon agreeing to help her, the Sole Survivor will need to make their way to Red Death Island. This can be done by heading to the same boat that was used to access Far Harbor. Once at the docks, Avery stops the player to warn them that they are wasting their time and that the Red Death is merely a myth. However, they can ignore her and use the boat nearby to reach the area where this beast lurks.

How To Kill The Red Death

Fallout 4 - The Red Death Mirelurk

Upon reaching Red Death Island, players will find The Mariner and The Red Death. It turns out, this beast is actually a regular-sized Mirelurk that is bloodraged. It will take no time at all for the player to destroy the tiny thing.

Even though The Mariner is disappointed, she will still reward the player. They will then need to decide if they should tell the truth or lie about The Red Death. From here, the player can make three choices:

Collecting DiMA's memories can be hard. Here's how players can do the quest (and how they can use console commands to skip it).

  • Have The Mariner tell the truth - This leads to the folks in Far Harbor laughing at her.
  • Have The Mariner embellish the story - This will lead to them being in awe of The Mariner.
  • Have The Mariner say that she couldn't find it - This leads to them saying it is probably for the best.

The choice the player makes here doesn't matter. No matter what happens, The Mariner will reward the player, and they will learn the truth about The Red Death.
