Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic Fallout franchise presents a bleak alternate reality, where nuclear war has destroyed civilization. These fun open-world games follow the journeys of vault-dwellers as they emerge from their underground communities and into the wastelands of America. Fallout 4 follows one such vault-dweller, who was frozen for 200 years, safe from the dangers of the wasteland, only to find their son has been taken and their spouse murdered.
As players explore the ruins of the civilization, they’ll find the world of Fallout 4 is littered with different items. From weapons, medical supplies, different outfits, and crafting materials, players can find everything from everyday junk to large stocks of ammo. Luckily, all these items can be sold to traders in all the major settlements of the game. While some items should be kept, many are next to useless and best sold off for caps. Earning more caps allows the player to buy better items and have a constant supply of ammunition and stimpaks, making their adventures in the wasteland that much easier.
1 Weapons
Earn Caps Quickly Selling Pistols

Fallout 4 offers players a wide range of armaments to use in the game. From the common Pipe Pistol to the devastating Fat Man, players can very quickly be armed to the teeth with a weapon available for any situation. Early in the game, players will have access to multiple weapons of the same kind. Many of these can be sold as soon as the player reaches a trader, earning quick caps early on.
One of the best weapons for this is the 10mm Pistol. Worth 50 caps each, players will soon find multiples of this weapon in the early game. Collecting a few of these will guarantee a nice amount of caps when they reach Diamond City. In addition to the 10mm Pistol, players will also find numerous pipe weapons scattered around the ruins, most commonly on the bodies of dead raiders. These weapon types have a lower value and lower damage output, but collecting these can work as a regular source of caps throughout the game.
2 Apparel

Fallout 4 offers players a wide selection of clothes and armor to wear when venturing around the wasteland. With so many clothing options in the game, and with many on the heavier side, players will soon find themselves overburdened. Selling armor parts is an easy method for earning caps. Found all over the wasteland, on both the bodies of dead NPCs and in various containers, many of these items have a good amount of value. Armor parts can also quickly become obsolete. As players level up, better items become available. Selling off any low-level gear is an easy way to earn caps.
3 Aid

The bleak and ruined landscape of Fallout 4 is filled with dangers ready to tear the player apart. From bloodthirsty raiders to the terrifying Deathclaws, healing is a big part of the game when venturing around the irradiated wastes. With so many consumable items available, many of these can be sold off for easy money. Chems, like Jet and Mentats, give temporary boosts to the character, but overall, won’t make a big difference when in combat. Players should keep any of these when found and sell them for easy caps.

All of the Fallout 4 vaults have their own disturbing backstories, not to mention a ton of great loot for the Soul Survivor to add to their inventory.
In addition to Chems, Fallout 4 has a whole range of food items that give a small amount of health. These can be handy if the player has run out of Stimpaks, but for the most part, can be sold to traders. Items like Yum Yum Deviled Eggs or Iguana on a Stick can be found at many of the settlements and campsites around the map and have enough value to be worth selling.
4 Misc

Fallout 4 is a large game and will take players hours of exploring to discover every location. Dotted around the game, players will come across several retro-style mini-games that are all based on real-life titles. These little games are fun distractions and can be played either on the Pip-Boy or on any of the terminals found around the map.
While many players may want to keep these games and collect them all, many players will not care. There are six games in total, one of which is only available through the Automatron DLC. Each of these games has a value of 300 Caps, making them a possible easy source of money whenever players find them. Two of these games can be found very early in the game, within Vault 111 and The Museum of Freedom. Selling these will give the player a quick 600 Caps when reaching the first traders.
5 Junk

In the shattered remains of America, a savvy wanderer will know that one person’s junk is another person’s treasure. Junk items are to be found all over the wasteland, from desk fans, typewriters, tin cans, and adjustable wrenches to bottles, ashtrays, and bags of fertilizer. Many of these items can be either sold to traders or used as added materials for building settlements.

Fallout 4 may not be as difficult as the series' first few entries, but there are certainly a few enemies able to give players a run for their money.
While some junk items should be kept for their rarer resources, like Alarm Clocks which have Nuclear Material inside, some common items are much better sold. Cigars and cigarette cartons are some of the more valuable junk items that can be found littering ruins. These are good junk items to be sold to traders as they also don’t contribute much when building settlements.
6 Mods

Fallout 4 allows players a lot of customization. Many of the weapons and armor in the game have a wide selection of modifications that can be attached when the player reaches certain levels. From improving the armor strength, weapon range, damage, or ammo capacity, modifications are an important part of the game. Upgrading gear will not only ensure the character survives the dangers of the wasteland but dominates it.
Some mods are well worth keeping, as the player may want to attach certain mods to different weapons. However, they will also soon find their inventory filled with mods that they no longer need. These can either be stored in a settlement workbench or sold to traders for a decent amount of caps.
7 Ammo
Sell Unused Ammo Types

The true currency of the wasteland is not in caps but in ammo. Running out of bullets will mean a quick death when faced with a rampaging super mutant. There are around 30 different ammo types available in the game, with some only usable in specific special weapons. These rarer ammunition types should be kept as much as possible, while some more common types can be sold off.
With such a large selection of weapons, players will soon find themselves gravitating to particular armaments. If a player mainly uses weapons that fire.45 rounds, and they have a surplus of.38 rounds, these bullets are best sold to traders. They can then use these caps to purchase the ammo they use more often.
