The Fallout franchise is full of awesome weapons, and Fallout 4 is no exception. Players have a large arsenal of destructive tools at their disposal in the game, with one of the rarer and more interesting guns from Fallout 3 returning in the form of the Alien Blaster Pistol - albeit with an updated look.

Whereas finding the Alien Blaster Pistol in Fallout 3 was simply a matter of making one's way to the alien crash site, obtaining this weapon this time around is a bit trickier. It requires a special event to happen in the game, which definitely highlights Fallout 4's amazing environmental storytelling.

Updated April 23, 2024 by Marc Santos: The Alien Blaster Pistol and its method of acquisition has remained relatively untouched throughout the many updates Fallout 4 has received over the years. The gun is still a powerful pick, especially for players who choose to go down the pistolero build route. This guide has been updated to include images of Fallout 4's alien crash site, including its location on the map and subsequent cave players need to visit. Some clarifications were also added regarding when the UFO is meant to crash, and what players can do to force the event to happen.

In order to get the pistol, one of two scenarios will need to occur: either players will be lucky enough to see the spaceship fall from space, or NPCs will be overheard chattering about it in various settlements across the Bostonian wasteland of Fallout 4. There's some dispute over whether this only happens once players reach level 20 or if it can happen at any time, but in any case, there's a good chance that the Alien Blaster Pistol will simply be unattainable until NPCs can be heard talking about a strange object falling from the sky.

One thing you can try to force the UFO to crash is to fast travel anywhere shortly after reaching level 20. After loading into the new area, you may hear the sound cue indicating that the UFO has hit the ground. If the event still doesn't trigger, quit to the main menu, load your most recent save, then fast travel to the Red Rocket near Sanctuary. Then, check the alien crash site regardless of whether a sound cue is played or not.

How to Find The Alien Crash Site

Once the UFO crashes, go to Oberland Station, a small settlement that's also part of the first couple of quests for the Minuteman questline given by Preston Garvey. You can find it south of Sanctuary, near where the stream bends.

Upon arriving at Oberland Station, players should be able to easily notice some burning trees. Approach the trees to find a crater where the spaceship itself has crashed. The pilot has exited the ship and fled the crash site, but luckily left a trail of green blood that stands out well against the ground.

Following the blood trail will lead players to a cave. Enter the cave to find the alien, who is injured, but not quite dead just yet. Put the alien out of its misery and loot its corpse to acquire the powerful Alien Blaster Pistol, a weapon that will certainly come in handy for those braving the many dangers of the wasteland.

The weapon's base damage is 50, but the stats and perks of the player character can give it an additional boost, making it even more powerful. The Alien Blaster Pistol uses AB rounds for ammunition, but you can easily change the weapon to use Fusion Cells via Fallout 4's weapon modding system.

The Alien Blaster Pistol is just one of many of the unique and devastating weapons that can be found in Fallout 4. The game is full of other rare weapons that also give players a significant advantage over post-apocalyptic foes, such as the Cryolator, which is also worth seeking out for those still exploring Fallout 4. Good luck hunting down the Alien Blaster Pistol and the Cryolator, and remember to save their limited ammo supply for the wasteland's greatest threats!
