With the start of season six, Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has added five new game modes to its ever-expanding roster. These new modes continue to bring the fun, innovative platforming energy that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is known for with new obstacles and mechanics to challenge players in their quest for the crown.
One of these new modes is a survival game called Air Time, a challenging competition to see which players can stay in an elevated score zone long enough to rack up a certain amount of points. With a variety of traps, narrow platforms, and zany obstacles to navigate, Air Time can be a tricky mode to survive without some helpful tips.
8 Get To Solid Ground
Airtime can be a daunting round for new players, and it's an understandable reaction: the round predominantly takes place in an elevated box filled with precarious platforms, swinging trapeze bars, and fans that can knock a player off their perch in seconds.
The best strategy to surviving a round of Airtime is to find solid ground early and stay on for as long as possible. Racking up points early on in the game slightly eases the pressure to qualify, and if a player manages to find solid ground just a handful of times, they'll have no issues soaring through the next round.
7 Use The Trapeze Bars
Every round of Airtime is filled with a variety of traps and obstacles to dodge through while staying within the score zone. There are numerous ways to get around the score zone, but one of the best is to stick to the trapeze bar path around the zone's perimeter.
These bars ring the outside of the scoring area and connect distant platforms to one another, allowing players to move from one section to the next without dropping to the lower level. As one of the least frequented paths in the game, it also helps players stay one step ahead of the competition in this excellent, multiplayer game.
6 Aim For The Lower Level Launch Pads
With so many different challenges and traps to work around, it's almost guaranteed that players will find themselves knocked out of the score zone and falling down to the round's lower level. Down here there's no way to earn more points toward the overall goal, but there is a quick way to get back up into the score zone.
There are pink launch pads around the upper parts of this lower level that offer the possibility of immediately rocketing back up into the score zone. With some masterful maneuvering and a little bit of luck, players can use these launch pads to get right back in the game.
5 Keep Moving
There's a common instinct in games like this to find one good spot and dig in. While Airtime has a few places that players can hang out in for a bit, the best strategy is always to stay on the move whenever a player finds solid ground.
While a spot might seem hospitable at the moment, every solid surface in Airtime is just waiting to throw players off either by flipping over or shooting gusts of wind at every player on the platform. Staying on the move can keep players in the score zone for a longer period of time and get them one step closer to winning that crown.
4 Avoid The Fans
On either side of the score zone are two different obstacles that players might be mistakenly tempted to try and stay in for the duration of the game. Both obstacles require players to jump in order to survive, but Airtime has another added wrinkle that makes staying in these areas a recipe for disaster.
Alongside both obstacles are large, industrial fans that will blow any airborne player clear out of the area. Since both obstacles require jumping, no player is safe from these powerful winds for very long. The best approach is to use these regions for as long as possible before striking out for some more hospitable territory.
3 Get Off The Trapeze Quickly
The trapeze bars within the score zone might seem like great places to hang out for a while and rack up some points, but players should always make sure to get off the bars as quickly as possible. The Fall Guy beans apparently don't have much in the way of upper body strength and will lose their grip on the bar after a short time.
None of these bars are directly over other obstacles or platforms, either, so losing that grip will buy any player a one-way ticket out of the score zone and back to the starting platforms. The trapeze bars work best when used to navigate the obstacles around the perimeter of the zone, keeping players in the game long enough to get to the next round.
2 Only Use The Dive When Necessary
Diving in Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is one of the game's original features, and is as useful today as it was back when the game first launched. In Airtime, though, the dive is much more difficult to land and can cost players the round in this cross-play battle royale.
There are two reasons why the dive isn't always the best option in this mode: recovery time and positioning. The time it takes a bean to regain its feet after diving could mean the difference between sticking around for another round and elimination, and diving often doesn't offer the reach necessary to make some of Airtime's trickier jumps.
1 Stick To The Stationary, Gold Drums
One side of the Airtime arena boasts a collection of large, gold drums with bouncy tops that send each Fall Guy comically soaring high into the air. While some of these drums slowly move around the immediate area, some of the drums in the middle of the set stay in one place.
If players can make their way over to these stationary drums, they'll rack up some of the easiest points the game has to offer. It's especially useful if a player is already close to qualifying and just needs a few extra points to make it over the top.
