Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout might be the unexpected hit of the year becoming one of the most popular indie titles to get loads of attention. The popularity is so intense that the Fall Guys' servers have been hit hard. With developer Mediatonic finally getting some stability it is offering players some apology items.
Yesterday, Mediatonic announced that players would receive an apology item for Fall Guys' server problems but did not say what it would be. In a followup tweet today, the developer confirmed that players will be getting a legendary skin and some moolah to spend in the store.
The legendary skin that is being distributed as compensation for the server struggles is dubbed the "Legendary Prickles" outfit which puts one of the player's guys in a delightful cactus costume. Alongside the little purple plant skin, players will also be getting some disposable cash to use in the Fall Guys store. Players will receive 5000 kudos, which is a currency that can otherwise be earned by playing or through purchase. The other currency players can earn is crowns but those are awarded for wins and players hitting milestones.
Fall Guys' server issues have been well documented with the game struggling under the floodgates of players coming in for the chance at battle royale glory. The game's servers were so unstable that many irate players unable to participate in the popular title went on to review bomb Fall Guys on Steam. The servers continue to buckle under the massive influx of players coming from not only Steam but through PlayStation Plus subscribers who received the game as the monthly freebie.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has become a sensation across the video game world with players flocking to the goofy yet charming battle royale. Many have compared its spike in popularity and prominence to PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds and Rocket League, the latter also garnering attention through its release as a PlayStation Plus monthly game. The game has even started to do crossover content with developer and publisher Valve being front and center. Fall Guys features a Half-Life Gordon Freeman skin and a new Team Fortress 2 skin available today.
As would-be champions continue to try jump in on the fun, those joining can always use a beginner's guide to Fall Guys. This will help players start raking in the kudos or even get those elusive crowns. While 5000 is a solid start, players will have to act fast as Fall Guys has daily rotation of items in the store.
