One of the first things many players will seek to do in EA's F1 23 is to add their own customized designs (also known as liveries) to the appearance of their car. With more slick, streamlined looks than in previous years, the Formula 1 cars are looking better than ever, and with a mixture of both matte and reflective liveries to choose from, there should be something for everyone among the game's customization options.
Players who want to access a further catalogue of designs to choose from can unlock different livery designs through the Podium Pass, as well as from the Item Shop using the in-game micro-transaction currency, "Pitcoin". Some designs available as special unlocks may be adorned with more graphics-based appearances, and typically these are not customizable in the same way as other liveries. One easy way to check is to see whether or not the "change color" option is present at the bottom of the screen.
F1 World
F1 World has been overhauled slightly for F1 23, with new challenges and game modes for players to experience, along with bonuses to certain tracks and car parts depending on players' completion of the challenges. Having accessed the F1 World section from the game's main menu, players can then navigate to the Customization tab, from which they will be able to change liveries, helmets, race uniforms and winning emotes.
Having selected a livery, players must press Edit, which will enable a variety of customization options from changing colors on the car to personalized stickers and logos. These liveries can be saved and will then be available in F1 World game modes as well as multiplayer events. Livery color schemes can also be transferred from one design to the next, creating a uniform look across the entirety of the player's garage.
Career Mode
In MyTeam Career mode, players will have the chance to create their own team and manage all the details from teammates to manufacturing facilities, as well as the color scheme and livery design for the team to present itself with. Having started a MyTeam Career (rather than a regular player career) players will have the option to customize their livery as part of the overall introduction of the team.
For players wishing to change their livery design during a season, they simply need to navigate to the Corporate tab, then to Customization on the far right. This screen will then enable players to customize all aspects of their team from the logo to the livery, and players can alter the color scheme and livery design of their car from here. This will also include the allocation of sponsors, allowing players to position and color sponsor logos in various parts of the car, though this will not affect the bonuses associated with these sponsors at the end of each race weekend. From the Liveries section, players can also copy color designs to new liveries and create a collection (or a museum) of their different liveries for specific race events, or for overall seasons.
F1 23 is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms starting June 16, 2023.
