- The Evil Dead franchise, known for its campy horror, is highly anticipated for its upcoming sixth installment.
While several horror franchises have been going strong since the '80s and '90s, I think the Evil Dead franchise is perhaps the most intriguing. After the first movie was released in 1981, fans had to wait several years for the second and third films in the original trilogy, and then there was a huge gap between the next few movies. However, after the most recent movie, Evil Dead Rise, was released in 2023, it was clear that audiences were eager for more of this campy and fun paranormal story.
Although I usually count Scream as my favorite horror franchise and I'm eager to see Scream 7 in February 2026, I'm also looking forward to Evil Dead Burn, especially thanks to the recent casting news involving a beloved Wednesday actor. I'm curious if they're playing a character who is similar to their role on the hit Netflix series starring Jenna Ortega, and I can't wait to hear more.

Wednesday Star Hunter Doohan Has Been Cast In Evil Dead Burn
As a big fan of Wednesday, I was excited to hear that Hunter Doohan is starring in Evil Dead Burn, as reported by Deadline. At the time of this writing, Doohan's character description isn't available, but I'm wondering if he's going to play a villain again.
Doohan did an impressive job playing Tyler Galpin/The Hyde Monster in Wednesday season 1, and I'm intrigued by his casting in the new Evil Dead movie. The role of Tyler wasn't an easy one since he becomes Wednesday Addams's (Jenna Ortega) friend and love interest, and he doesn't let on that he's part monster. Doohan made viewers believe his character was 100 percent kind and perfectly hid Tyler's evil side. I was surprised when Tyler showed his true nature since he seemed so genuine, and I like that he's a complicated character who does have some compassionate instincts. I think would be fun to see Doohan play another villain, especially since the Evil Dead movies lean into the supernatural, and so does Wednesday. There could be some major similarities between Tyler and his Evil Dead character, which would be cool to observe.
Evil Dead Rise had some fun Easter Eggs, and I, along with many fans, enjoy watching the horrifying Deadites in each movie. I'm wondering if Doohan could become a Deadite, and I think it would be interesting, especially if audiences get to know his character well first. Doohan's Wednesday arc is so good because viewers get to know Tyler and think he's a lost, confused, and kind person who can relate to Wednesday since he also doesn't fit in. But then he surprises her by revealing that he's been partly evil this entire time.
No matter what kind of character Doohan ends up playing, he's had a compelling career, and it's fun to follow along with the different projects he has signed onto. Besides Wednesday, he appeared on two legal dramas. He played a teenage version of Warren Cave on Truth Be Told and Adam Desiato on Your Honor, which also starred Bryan Cranston. Most recently, Doohan played Bastian Cooper/Muse five episodes of Daredevil: Born Again, which is getting a second season. Next, fans can see him play Tyler again in Wednesday season 2, which will be released in August and September 2025. Doohan's characters are complicated, and even though he becomes the Hyde Monster, Tyler is definitely the most likable person he's played.
