New details have been released about Build a Rocket Boy Games’ debut release Everywhere, revealing that it includes an entirely separate game playable within the mysterious open-world title. Being able to load up the open-world action-adventure game, titled MindsEye, from within another game would definitely mesh with designer Leslie Benzies’ statements claiming that Everywhere is a “real-life Ready Player One.”

The first release from developer Build a Rocket Boy Games, Everywhere is an open-world title in development for PC and consoles that will feature a variety of gameplay types and a host of creation tools for players to design their own content. A gameplay teaser for Everywhere was released in 2022 that showed environments ranging from sci-fi to fantasy and snippets of gameplay featuring first-person gunplay and racing. Everywhere’s development is being headed up by former Rockstar North employees including Leslie Benzies, who previously worked as lead developer on the Grand Theft Auto series.

While details have remained scarce about what exactly players can expect from Everywhere, new information from the gaming site Video Games Chronicle and a new trailer have provided some details about what Build a Rocket Boy Games has planned for players. As part of a studio tour provided to VGC, the developer has revealed it has been working on a second AAA game called MindsEye that will only be playable from inside Everywhere. Described as a “high-octane, triple-A, story-driven action adventure-game,” MindsEye's gameplay looks to be a cinematic mix of a technothriller and the sort of open-world mayhem that gamers are familiar with from the Grand Theft Auto series.

The short trailer teaser for Everywhere's game-within-a-game, MindsEye, manages to pack a lot of intrigue into its sub-30-second runtime and gives players a taste of what to expect from the full release when it becomes available. The trailer opens with a man talking about how a piece of tech has been affecting his brain and ruining his life as footage shows a humanoid robot mimicking his movements. Quickly ramping up the action, a woman is heard asking if “You wanna know what the MindsEye really is?” As the trailer cuts to a rapid montage of what looks to be a heavily sci-fi-inspired take on Grand Theft Auto’s open-world formula.

Thanks to its short runtime and cryptic nature, this brief teaser for MindsEye is likely to raise more questions about Everywhere than it answers. But with a release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 nowhere in sight and developer Build a Rocket Boy Games promising that “Everywhere will be in the hands of players this year,” it's certain to catch the attention of players looking for their next open-world fix.

Everywhere is currently in development for PC and consoles.
