The Epic Games Store releases its two free games for June 15, Guacamelee! And Guacamelee! 2, and reveals what will replace them on June 22 , theHunter: Call of the Wild. The two Guacamelee games will be available to claim until Thursday, June 22, at 10 am CT, at which time they'll rotate out.
There's something to be said about the sheer variety of Epic Games Store titles released this month. Prior to Guacamelee!, fans could claim Payday 2 which is a heist-based co-op shooter. The Guacamelee games are 2D Metroidvania platformers with brawler elements, while theHunter: Call of the Wild is a hunting simulation game. Chances are, each title appeals to a limited number of fans, though perhaps theHunter is the most niche of them all, but for those looking for a realistic hunting simulation game, they can claim it on EGS.
According to OpenCritic, however, theHunter: Call of the Wild has a Top Critic Average of 68, with only 28% of critics recommending it. The game has changed a lot since its initial release in 2017, though. These include, but are not limited to, a change to the rack design, animal scoring systems, weapon overhauls, and additional hunting reserves across North America, Europe, Oceania, and more in theHunter: Call of the Wild.
Epic Games Store June 15-June 22 List
- Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (June 15 - June 22)
- Guacamelee! 2 (June 15 - June 22)
- theHunter: Call of the Wild (June 22 - June 29)
- Free content for Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realm (June 22 - June 29)
In addition, anyone who logs into Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms (via EGS) between June 22 and June 29 will receive the Wulgar Legends of Renown Pack at no cost. It includes various champion unlocks, an exclusive skin, an exclusive familiar, several chests for the unlocked characters, and two week-long buff potions.
Perhaps Epic Games Store's greatest strength is how its free weekly titles are telegraphed. Someone may not be in interested in Guacamelee, but they are in theHunter, meaning they know they can claim it next week. If it's a complete scrub for someone, they know to keep an eye on June 22. It's only natural that every free game not appeal to everyone, there's no making everyone happy after all, but the sheer variety on display this month means Epic Games Store is checking off a few boxes, at least.
Epic Games Store users get a handful of games every month.
