Backpack Hero and Figment are the Epic Games Store's free games for July 3. In the meantime, Epic Games Store users have one other freebie to claim.
Between early May and mid-June 2025, two patterns defined Epic's weekly giveaways: each week featured two free games, and the titles were not announced in advance, keeping users surprised through the so-called mystery game promotions. Both trends ended simultaneously with the reveal of the EGS Two Point Hospital giveaway, which ran until June 19.

What Is Backpack Hero?
Developed by Jaspel, Backpack Hero is a deck-building roguelike with an inventory management twist. Players are not only expected to be selective about the items they carry in their inventory, but also the manner in which they are arranged. Beyond sorting through one's backpack, the game offers plenty of opportunities to battle foes, collect rare items, and explore. Released in 2023, Backpack Hero presently holds a "Fair" rating on OpenCritic, based on an average score of 72 and a 64% reviewer recommendation rate. It also boasts over 6,800 "Very Positive" user reviews on Steam.
What Is Figment?
Figment is a musical action-adventure set in a surreal and whimsical world meant to represent the human mind. Players control Dusty, the mind's former voice of courage, who teams up with an optimistic companion called Piper on a quest to confront nightmarish personifications of fear and doubt. Blending exploration, puzzle-solving, and rhythmic combat, the game features a dynamic soundtrack that follows on-screen action, as well as hand-painted visuals. As of mid-2025, Figment holds over 1,200 "Very Positive" player reviews on Steam, as well as a "Strong" rating on OpenCritic, being in the 75th percentile of all games scored on the platform.
While waiting for Backpack Hero and Figment, Epic Games Store users can claim Sable. The open-world action-adventure game from Shedworks was already offered for free on the platform once before, but only for a single day in December 2022.
